Tomorrow morning at 10 is the first burn of hopefully close to 100 burns in all. 11 weeks of training and it's all been leading up to this point. Pulling a hose line, going into the building with my engine company and fighting fire.

It's going to be a hectic day but more organized than anything else I'll ever do. Six engine companies and only two will be sitting in rehab. One company is inside knocking down the fire. Another on the floor below ready to go in next and then a third company on the RIT(rapid intervention team) in case a man goes down.

Real deal, fully involved rooms and one mistake and we're screwed.

I'll edit this out tomorrow with pictures and more updates. Here's to hoping nobody gets burnt.

Hope everything goes well for you. It seems like you've really been successful so far and I hope this continues.

This phrase always makes me think that you're burning something alive.

This phrase always makes me think that you're burning something alive.

I wouldn't mind leaving one or two guys but they may end up doing that all on their own. I only say that because they have repeatedly tried to cut a body part off or done something that would kill us in the fire.

The burn was a success but was a bit of a let down because of the weather and the instructors weren't helping.

We got our asses ripped for not doing it exactly like they wanted it done and then people went in and did it nearly the same way the second and third rounds and they said we did a good job. I couldn't get any real good pictures of the fires because my camera wouldn't focus, and it was hard to take a picture in a burning room with gloves and heating beating at your face. Here's a few pictures and some from the auto extrication.

Bottom row. Third from left in the orange/yellow turnout gear. The guy in the back with a coat and his helmet is Chesser the dumbass who showed up late all the time and wasn't allowed to burn or sit for the state test.

Building we burned in. I think that was the first round when things just started heating up.
