Is there any documentation anywhere of what the various string control codes are and what they do? -- Pteryx

No problem.
Tis always good to just have a quick check of the Wiki though usually, there's some quite good information in there.

Hiya Joe! I'd like to be able to control my strings like that. That Wiki page lists all the switches, but it doesn't say where to type the switches in at. I attempted to put them at the front, end and in a separate string (linked by the first, then as the first - linked to the message..).. I can't figure out how to assign them. If it's not too much would you mind letting me know?

Hello _L_. Thank you. I'm attempting to use the switches listed under 'String Control Codes' on the Wiki URL above. From that page, a specific example would be "\2\0" (without the "'s). The page describes that those switches would make the text speed instant, but it doesn't say how to use the switch / i.e. where to put it. Any clue?

Well, Zelda Classic prints out strings letter-by-letter, and when it gets to a control code, the control code takes effect. So in your case you'd put it at the start of the string.

I attempted to put them at the front:

and that didn't work. I also tried to put them at the end and in a separate string (linked by the first, then as the first - linked to the message..)

Hmm, okay, what version are you using?

I'm using the standard v2.1 because it's the one on the main page. Do I need to move to a newer beta to make those codes work?

Ah, yes, that's your problem.

Thank you. I attempted to update that Wiki page with relevant version information, usage notes, a text colour code list, etc, but someone has locked the page. Strange to lock a page that's based on sharing information, I would think, but there you have it. I appreciate your time.

thank you. for time, the graciousness with which i was going to share my research has passed. that interest is now lost. a 100 post requirement is only wrong, and the limitation is surely not due to 'bot spam' as stated. registering/creating an account, as the one i completed, eliminates that entirely and should be enough to obtain editing rights on a wiki; even a faux wiki. i'll likely never post 100 items here, but that's not to say i don't have useful information to share or that i'm incapable of presenting it in a helpful way, or that there aren't other's in my position. preventing intentional vandalism in such a way is like punishing the entire class (read as 'world', because that's what we are here) for something one person may do. that's why backup's are made routinely. perhaps the authors are pessimists, but i wouldn't fathom reasoning that any significant number of people who come to this site, use the amazing products, venture to read the wiki for assistance and then create another account on that wiki, would have ill-will towards the rest of us. eh. go figure.
