So this started as a school project, and evolved into something I've had fun building over the last couple of months.

Its called an inverted pendulum. Basically, the platform moves in order to keep the unstable pole from falling.

The video's speak for themselves:

To make this more interesting:

I am studying electrical engineering. For those of you still in school, what is your area of study?

I had never seen anything like this before. How much work does it take to do something like that?

That's really nice! I'm an electrical engineering major too, so I can appreciate what goes into such things. Excellent work.

The only electrical engineering thing I've ever made is a piece of crap circuit board that plays paper rock scissors using binary switches. I designed a chip in VHDL using Xilinx to do the logic and downloaded it to a programmable logic device. If you can't tell, I'm still a newb. All the classes I've taken so far have been heavy on math and theory but light on building things. Fortunately that's starting to change now.

Wow. How long did that take you to put together? Wish I could do something cool like that.

Looks pretty sweet. As an aspiring Mechanical Engineer, I can see how much work must go into that.

Associate of Technical Studies in Emergency Medical Services and Fire Science

Almost done with my 240 training and I'll be certified as a firefighter by the end of March. I had a job offer from the Granville fire dept that I'm thinking about taking.

I am a student of software engineering.

I have made two projects so far for my game development class, and I am working in a team to create a hiring application service for a retail store for my implementation class.

The second will be a very small implementation of Metroid. I have one more project for my game development class: a three dimensional Galaga.
