*Layers above 3 no longer are invisible while the active subscreen scrolls into view.

Does this mean that if I have an opaque layer 6 covering a part of my screen that I don't want the player to see, it'll become transparent whilst the subscreen scrolls down?

That sounds to be quite problematic...

Ohhh ok, well thanks then :)

I should've checked and realised that it was your log and not _L_'s; it's often his that are more suspect to unusual changes.
