Bleh, 3 stars. Music is funny at first, but gave me a headach halfway through.

Otherwise pretty good.

If you didn't play MegaMan 3 on the NES then you won't get it.

That is so, so awesome.

Then again, I love A Capella and Rockman music and singing Japanese girls, so, yeah.

I wish I could do that.

I have played Megaman 3, have the NES version and the anniversary collection both. And I still don't see the point or the funny-ness of that video.

It's not so much the video itself as it is the fact that somebody actually took the time to DO it is inherently amusing. You think to yourself at the start, "certainly this can't last for the whole six minutes!" But yes, yes it can. And it is great.

To be fair, with only the music this video would be somewhat amusing at best. The sound effects are what put it in the 'hilarious' category.

Yeah, I laughed whenever he got an energy pellet and did that 'eeeeeeeeeeeee' sound effect.

I did a little reading and I'll share what I found.

Yamaha has a program called Vocaloid that allows a user to generate singing simply by typing in lyrics and specifying the melody. Vocaloid uses the voice of a fictional character created for it named 初音ミク (Miku Hatsune) to sing its lines. The result is a J-Pop-sounding anime-theme-song-ish tune that really sounds impressively like a real person simply singing a song. The music and sound effects of this video were made with Vocaloid, which helps to explain some of the just-barely-too-artificial portamentos and things you hear here and there. The title of the video translates into English as "Playing Rockman 3 with Miku Hatsune's Voice".

This is all very awesome and exciting.

P.S. Sorry if this ruins it for anyone...

Wait, it wasn't obvious there was computer tomfoolery afoot?

Still, the results were hilarious enough to overlook that.

That's the program/voice Riverman was talking about. This is one of their sample songs.

I honestly can't tell this was computer-generated.

EDIT - Haha, this stuff is all over the place

I suspect, although I have no way of verifying, that the voice would sound more artificial if any of us spoke the language.

Still, to my untrained ears the first song sounds very human.

Found this, I think it's the same sort of program - that cracks me up.. it's like half English, half gibberish...

It's easy to tell these are computer generated because next to nobody can consistantly make the same exact sound like that. But it's still cool.

Almost sounds like the guy from L'Arc~en~Ciel before voice lessons. Still, some crazy shit in that video
