Whenever I start up ZQuest, it says "Loading quest... decrypting... error. Press a key"

I press keys, nothing. Just gives me that error. I have to close the program via the task manager.

Even with the ZC Launcher, same thing happens. I'm on Vista.

Help?

ZQuest2.10 cannot run on Vista, I'm sorry to say. It wasn't build for Vista, so you will always get the "decrypting error." I get this error when I try building on my Vista comp., but it works fine on my XP comp. Do you have another computer that runs on 2000 or XP? If not, then go to Shardstorm and pick up a 2.5 beta build, they should work on Vista.

Would you mind posting a link to that 2.5 thingy?

Yeah, but I can't see the 2.5 download. It's a real needle in a haystack,

oh, that's the changelog for 2.5, all of the downloads on that page are 2.5 in various stages. Personally I'm using beta 584, but it's not the newest one. I think the newest windows version is 635. Since there's a feature freeze at the moment and the developers are dealing only with bugfixing, newer versions tend to be the most stable.

i personally wouldnt recommend using any of the newest builds [584 and 635] until youre more experienced with zquest. the first build i downloaded was... umm 235?.........hmmm... i think its something like that. but it has less features to confuse you with than the newer builds. i made the mistake of downloading builds too soon...

but also, i think theres a few builds made just for vista too... but im not sure.

oh, and welcome to zelda classic... [sorry if youre not new, but i saw a new face and name]

I'm not new, I've had an account here for some time.I rarely visit AGN however. I'm what you might say, a native of a different forum.
