Trouble With SS Counters

I'm using 254, and when I make an individual counter in my passie SS (for arrows and bombs), and when I obtain them in the quest, it'll always come out saying I have infinite bombs/arrows (with the A). Of course, when I use up all my bombs or arrows, it dissappears. I have it set so it only displays when the said item is selected.

I had a very similar problem. I can't remember if I solved it or not, but if I did, it involved some fiddeling with the counter settings. I think there was a misleadingly named box/field that somehow gave you infinite.
