I was just looking through the changelog, and I was thinking that the numbers don't seem to go up in any kind of logical fashion, what is it that denotes the number of the next build? just out of curiosity and all.

It's a well kept secret, but how it works is: when a build is a prime number, it's put there as a joke and will corrupt your quest. If it is divisible by 12 plus 6, then it is relatively stable. and whenever there is a change of 11, it is coded to put tracking cookies on your computer....also never download the odd numbered builds. :toast:

Build numbers correspond to revision numbers in the repository. Since each revision may contain more or fewer changes, depending on the style of the developer, the numbers have no significance above providing a convenient total ordering of the builds.

Notice that the changelog is divided into "blocks" of comments by different authors. Each block corresponds to one revision, though not all revisions have a corresponding log.

Ah, I see we finally have a new windows build 624!!! Sweet. Should be fine to use also 'cause it's divisible by 12, and if you re-arrange the numbers the same is true for 264. 426 is divisible by 12 + 6, and 24 is 2 twelves plus a six. Do you believe me now....huh...just think about it. :toast:

624 crashes before you can even register a name, better check your math. ;)
Maybe some new batteries in that calculator. ;)

Dammit! The setup was all there. If 624 had actually worked I might of had some schmuck actually giving this some consideration....

So it is based on revisions. That was my theory a while ago, but like DD said, with all the different dev's it doesn't mean much, and I figured I was wrong.

I thought of that a long time ago. It looked like, the more revisions, the higher the build number. And Gleeok, your made up method seems to actually work.:) Know any more dark secrets about the alpha build?:mischief:
