You don't need to make two topics about the same thing. And I'm not sure about the cave problem but to draw tiles go to Quest -> Graphics -> Tiles and double click on an empty square.

Are you trying to get these people to appear on an Overworld Dmap or on a dungeon Dmap? And what version of ZC are you using?

Also, you shouldn't double post - and definitely not triple post. There is an edit button for that.

OK, create test screen. add stairs. F10 or tile warp-> set to cave item room(its already set ;p) ...-select (G)uy; select (S)tring you want to appear(message) ; select (R)oom type ; and/or (S)pecial item to appear, if any.
-after you set everything you want to. save and test it out. Lemme know if there's any problemo's. :p

hey do you by chance know sara smith?

Way to pick one of the most common names in the world. ;)

You don't add the people. I think that's what's wrong. You just press "Guy" and pick your person, it will appear for you. You don't need to get the tile and add if yourself.

....I actually do know a Sara Smith. But I think it's Sarah Smith, I'm not really sure. But yeah that is a fairly common name.

After setting the guy and string, you need to go to "Tile Warp" and then click "Cave/Item Room" and set the screen to 80.

Okay, here goes....Cave Tut Vesion 1.10;

Open New Quest.
On screen 0,0 of map 1 put a stairs.
Go to Dmap 1, and set to map 1 and level 0, and name dmap1 *test* set to overworld
*Now do the following ON SCREEN 0-0 OF MAP 1!:*
...-select (G)uy; select (S)tring you want to appear(message) ; select (R)oom type ; and/or (S)pecial item to appear, if any.
Go to initial data and set location to dmap1 *test*
Start your game...walk into the stairs, and theres a guy! ..even though you did nothing in the cave room itself.

You don't have to make more posts. You can just edit the one above the last two you just made and go:

EDIT: I got it to work right on my test map!

EDIT 2: Ok thank you everyone, it's finally working right.

Double and Triple posting is looked down on.

The enemy editor's only available in the alpha builds - download 'em from Shardstorm (http://www.shardstorm.com).

I thought the alpha-builds were unstable and buggy?

Russ

Most are, but some are somewhat stable. Build 254 is actually fit for quest building and is not too much buggier than 2.10.

I really think we should stop suggesting build 254 around here. Yes it was a stable build, but anyone who makes a quest on that may not realize that the items had a major overhaul afterwords and those quests will not be compatible with 2.5 until the item properties and other options are set to default.

The latest builds have been very stable with a majority of the bugs reported as cosmetic with other Z1 issues. Sure a bigger bug may appear now and then but it's much closer to what 2.5 will end up being compared to what build 254 was.

I actually recommend that someone just off the zc boat do not use the alpha builds. There is little documentation for it. Be aware that there is 20,000 new features, and keep in mind that once 2.5 (or b18) comes out you can alway's switch your quest over at a later time to that.
