Taking Screenshots

I know this may sound like a dumb newbie's question, but I see that almost everyone on here can take screenshots of their game, and then post them here or in the QDB. I still haven't got a clue how to do this. Is there a function on ZQuest or somewhere else that lets me take a screenshot?

I'm pretty sure it's one of the 'F' keys (f1-f12) or the 'Z' key.

It's F12 specifically.

In the player, you press F12 to take a screenshot. In ZQuest, it's mainly the Z key, but in the tile editor it's F12

It's kind of a strange setup when you think about it, but that's how it works

EDIT: I pressed F12 in the player, but... nothing happened. I guess nothing was supposed to happen, but where exactly did my "screenshot" go, and how would I find it on my computer?

It should be in the same directory as your zelda-w.exe is in and be called zelda-001.

I can't find it!

I can't find where these screenshots are going. Zelda-001 comes up with no results on my computer search, and screenshots doesn't come up with anything either. How can I access these!?

It's actually 'zelda001' - there are no spaces. ;)

Okay, thanks! I found the File 'Zelda001' and all it had in it were a few un-seperated, seemingly random screenshots of mostly things since-edited or deleted. I guess this could be because I accidentally took screenshots earlier.

Do the screenshots from ZC and ZQ go to the same place? And how do I make sure that the screenshots get there?

Also, how would I seperate the screenshots from each other in order to post them somewhere else?

And finally, how would one go about posting a picture on this forum?

I think the screenshots go to the folder where the ZC/ZQ stuff are.

Go to a web site where you can upload pictures. A common one for ZC-related screenshots is www.photobucket.com. You may need to set up an account, then just upload the screenshot and put the link to the picture (i.e. the URL) on this forum.

Somebody already said they go in the same folder as zelda-w.exe for pics with the player, and in the same folder as zquest-w.exe for pics with the editor...

I feel like an idiot, but I still don't understand.

I found two files entitled "Zelda001" in the Search of my computer. They both had EXACTLY the same four seemingly random screenshots that I don't remember taking, spaced around the screen.

When I try to go into the editor or the player, and take a screenshot(by pressing Z or F12), I don't see anything happen, and when I check the Zelda001 folder again, there are no new pictures in there.

Can somebody walk me through exactly how I would get the pictures seperated and able to be posted on PhotoBucket?

The file names of the screenshots automatically increment - i.e zelda002, zelda003, etc. - so as to avoid writing over the same file.

It doesn't hurt to rename them (and thus 'seperate' them).

Does that mean that every screenshot I take goes to a different folder?

They are all in the same folder. The program will just change the number after the word zelda so that it doesn't overwrite the old pictures each time you take a screen shot. Each screen shot should always be zeldaxxx for the file name where xxx is whatever number screen shot it's currently on.
