I actually searched for any PSP topics, but I guess they don't exist.

Anyways...

Yes, I bought a PSP a few days ago. This thing is pretty nifty. One reason I bought it is just really to have one. The other reason was the fairly big homebrew scene.

As far as games go, I have:
Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded (King of Dragons > you)
Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast
ATV Offroad Fury Pro
Luminus

A small but varied start.

I really should have kept my firmware at a specific version, because I could have had an all in one mobile player for SNES, NES, GBA, N64, SMS/GG, and the like... But now I might need another game to assist with those efforts.

All in all, I like it. Anyone else own one?

yes i know the psp sucks
yes i know umd's suck
yes i know the battery life sucks
yes i know the game lineup sucks
yes i know most games are ps2 ports
yes i know the PSP is better than the DS
yes i know the DS is better than the PSP
If you can't post without pointing at least one of these out, then you have no reason to reply. These are all common knowledge. I still have and play my DS equally, so this doesn't need to turn into a sony/nintendo banterfest.

I would really like to have a PSP again, mostly because it was just a bang up emulation machine, but also there were a few games I rather liked for it. I almost picked it up again when I saw that FF1, 2, and Tactics were coming out for it, but then I came to my senses and realized I had played all 3 of those games before, and I'm sick of giving Square my money.

Get Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. Good games. :O I have a PSP and it's quite nice. I should pickup Metal Slug Anthology for it some time. Can't wait for Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles to come out either. Not to mention I want the new PSP with TV out.

I just got around to reading about the PSPS&L. I original didn't think it was going to be worth the price, but at 200 bucks when (in one package deal) you get a game, an FG umd, and a 1gb memstick, it'll be too hard to pass up. source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable_Slim_%26_Lite#Colors_and_Bund les)

I was looking at MMPU and MHX, I should have gotten at lease one of them... I'll admit, I pretty much bought CCCReload for King of Dragons.

Dracula X Chronicles is shaping up to look like one badass of a game, and it includes SOTN and the original Rondo of Blood? Yes plz.

Original plus 3D remake I believe.

I like my PSP. I don't play it nearly enough though. I have the Capcom Classics Reloaded, and I play Knights of the Round on it the most. I hadn't ever played King of Dragons until I got it, and it was pretty good as well.

I also have Maverick Hunter X. It was the first game I got for it, and it was pretty bad ass. I really like the anime that it comes with.

I can't get into Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops for the life of me. I don't know why I can't get into a Metal Gear game, but I believe its because the controls don't feel right. Almost like it moves too slow and not very accurately.

I picked up Metal Gear Acid even though I hate card game video games, and it honestly wasn't too bad, though I never finished it.

I also have Valkyrie Profile, which I picked up most recently. I hadn't ever played the original and I heard it was really good. I played through a little bit of it, and it seems alright, but I got involved with something else and haven't picked it up in awhile.

I'm really looking forward to the FFT: Lion War and Castlevania games. FFT mainly because I'm not bringing my PS2 to Iraq this time, and I know that I'll want to play FFT while I'm over there, and I'm too lazy to get my PSX emulator working with Vista.

I just got around to downgrading my PSP firmware to version 1.50 so that I can use emulators on it, and it's a dream come true, carrying an NES and a slightly-less-than-full-power SNES with me wherever I go. It kinda makes me not want to get FFT and so forth, just because I'd have to upgrade my firmware.

if you use Snes9x for PSP, there's an option somewhere to overclock the cpu so SNES games run at full speed, at the cost of battery... i had gba games running on it too.

then i was ignorant and for some reason upgraded to 3.03, which the only way after that is via a GTA LCS exploit (at this time).

also, i hope you know once you do downgrade your firmware, Riverman, there's no going back up. I tried to re-update to 3.50 after 1.50, and it doesnt work.

Didn't I hear a rumor they were making some kind of PSP you could hook up to your TV? I'm not too fond of the system but that would go a long way to justifying its cost...

This and that SOTN game could make me buy one just sayin'

[O]nce you do downgrade your firmware, ... there's no going back up.

If this really is the case, I may well consider it a fair price. As it is, I have a portable NES and SNES and a decent audio player all in one, and it can play Lumines and Untold Legends to boot. I'm happy.

Guys, first off, the new PSP model will have TV-Out, so you can play your games at home on your TV via Composite, Component, and probably S-Video I believe.

Next, if you downgrade your PSP to 1.5, you can then upgrade to version 3.5OE which is a hacked version of 3.5 enabling you to play any games that require up to version 3.5 and still play homebrew like emulators. I highly recommend it. If you need to upgrade later to a legitimate version it is possible but may be complicated and you should consult someone knowledgable on the matter.

Personally I'd recommend buying a second PSP like the new one with TV out for playing PSP games and use the older one for emulators. Atleast until hopefully the new one can be hacked.

After the DS Lite was announced, I had a feeling that the PSP would receive an upgrade as well after some time had passed, and I was right. Good thing I didn't get one before. To be honest, I don't really care too much for the whole emulation scene on the PSP, so even if it doesn't get hacked, (even though it most likely will) I'll be satisfied. I'll be purchasing it so I can play PSP games, not so I can play NES/SNES games.

I don't understand how you all are having a hard time running SNES emulators on it. I used the GTA thinger to run snes9x, and it ran perfercly for me.

Oh and something I forgot to mention, you can downgrade with the older version of Luminees with PSP firmware version 3.5. It's the latest/current exploit. There is a downgrader too I believe.

Regarding SNES emulation, when I say "imperfect" I mean fewer than the full 60 fps. Besides the fact that the framerate dips now and then, though, it's dandy.
