Over the past two years I've been a huge fan of OC Remix. If you haven't heard of it, and you are a fan of video game music, it would do you well to check it out. www.ocremix.org

What are some of your favorite OC Remixes? If not OC Remix, than original game music?

FF6 Seized with Fury: (Remix of FF6 Boss music) Full of heavy metal guitar, its my favorite.

FF3 Winds of Eternity: (Remix of FF3 Overworld Music)

FF6 Let Us Dance in the Dark Phantom Forest :(Trance remix of the FF6 Phantom Forest Music)

Super Castlevania 4 Prologue Painmix (Remix of Super Castlevania 4's Prologue music)

Mega Man 2 With The Quickness (Remix of Quickman's stage music) This one got me hooked on OC Remix.

As for original game soundtracks, I've been listening to the Metal Gear Solid 3 soundtrack I picked up a couple weeks ago quite often. Its really fucking good. Also I've been pretty partial to the Chrono Trigger Soundtrack since I played it years and years ago.

I haven't been to OC remix in quite sometime, but one of the first remixes I downloaded was Virt's Contra mix when it was still up
http://virt.vgmix.com/music/arrange/v-contra.mp3
Now he's a professional video game musician and is working on Contra 4.

For the past 5 years there's been a video game convention in Virgina called Magfest (http://www.magfest.org) where they've have 2 nights of concerts of bands playing video game music, and I've been to the last 3.

I generally like the cover bands like the Minibosses (http://www.minibosses.com) than the more remixed and techno stuff.

I haven't bought any game music CDs (http://www.vgmworld.com) in a while but I'm about due. I need to get a few of the Mega Man soundtracks and recent Castlevania soundtracks.

Seized with Fury is really good. I was listening to that a week ago even.

I listen to WAY too much VG music. The soundtrack to Romancing Saga is a good one. You can grab the OSTs for Quake I & II, Half-Life and Opposing Force (all good stuff) legally from this site (http://p-l-m.blogspot.com/), which also has a ton of other great non-game music.

I am almost ALWAYS listening to Game music.

I'm listening to game music right now. I believe the one playing now is *anxious heart* ~ FF7

I grab game and anime music from wherever I can grab it, and I've made a dozen or so different playlists of them.

heck, when I went on vacation, I stuffed as many music files as I could onto my DS flash card. I had a bout 29 of them with me, I believe, 90% of them being from games.

my favourite song is *What I'm Made of* ~ Sonic Heroes final boss theme.

:P It's just about the only thing I found good about heroes.

I listen to a lot of game music , myself.

Dance of Illusions from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I like the Dawn of Sorrow version even better.

Anxious Heart from FF7.(not just to agree with Aegix, I like that one a lot too)

Courage and Pride from the Heart in Sword of Mana.

I could go on and on.

FF4: The Sky Was Never a Limit

I think my favorite mixer right now is Zircon. housethegrate (the mixer of Seized with Fury) is also good.

Sonic the Hedgehog series

SSBM
F-Zero series
Thunder Force IV
Zelda series

there's really too much to list... almost all the stuff i listen to has it's own platform sound format.

Okay, so, I keep researching stuff, and my browser keeps crashing courtesy of my Netzero third party internet connection software, which is dumb. So no words beyond this rant, no descriptions, nothing. Google what I don't provide links for.

The Black Mages.

The Minibosses (http://www.minibosses.com)

Virt (http://virt.vgmix.com/index.php?page=arrange)

Xoc (http://www.xocmusic.com)

So there.

My fav game music comes from Romancing Saga of late. I like Passionate Rythem and A Challenge to God -Four Guardian Kings Battle- along with Decisive Battle! Saruin -Final Battle with Saruin-, they all sound sweet. I got my mp3s of them on bluelaguna. As for OCremix, I haven't been there for awhile. My fav remix from there ever was a remix of the FF Mystic Quest battle theme which, sadly, has been dropped from the site for some time now. I also enjoyed Fire Cross, a remix of the Gilgamesh battle musid fro m FF5. :kitty:

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. I just love everything about the game. Truth, Despair, and Hope; Determination; Grim Journey; From the Darkness; Lights in the Dark. If for some reason you haven't, play it. (A lot of FE fans think it's one of the worst installments, for some reason. It's the only FE I've ever played. Maybe I should change that.)

Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Mega Man, and Zelda games generally have good soundtracks too.

Having only ever played the two gameboy games, I can honestly say that I prefer the first to the second. The music in Sacred Stones was good, I agree. But compared to the one that came before, it's just not as good at all. I found myself not caring at all about any of the characters. Any of them. Being able to go through levels again, sort of, and build up my entire team was a nifty feature, but the story, especially the way it was told, just didn't work for me.

If you can find a copy of the other game, I heartily recommend it.

Also, the Cave Story (http://www.miraigamer.net/cavestory/) soundtrack is groovy, if you don't mind the fact that the mp3's aren't set up to loop more than once.
