View Full Version : Magic Spells and the Item Editor

So, now that we can toy around items with the item editor, a thought occurred to me. Would it be possible to create something similar to a Cure spell, or any other types of magic?

Suppose you obtain an item called the Book of Healing. It allows you to regain 6 hearts, but at the cost of 3 magic containers. The item is basically the Magic Potion, except instead of consuming the item itself and reverting to the Letter, it consumes magic and stays with you like any other item would.

On a related note, suppose you wanted certain weapons to consume magic. Let's suppose that you take the hookshot and call it the Fire Whip. It'll still act like the hookshot with it's grappling abilities, but it deals damage (that harms enemies besides keese and gels) and consumes a bit of magic.

Keep in mind that I haven't looked at any of the recent ZQuest builds, and I have almost no understanding of scripts. Is it possible to create items like this, and if so, how would you do it?

Sure! And no need for scripting at all.

To make it cost magic, theres a "Magic" function.

Damage has it's own field now too(I think, don't know)

And to make it stay with you, check "Equipment Item"
