I had sleep paralysis last night. Fun stuff. No really, it was. It started out bad, but I was able to convince myself that what I was seeing wasn't real, then I started thinking about God, then I started seeing good things instead of bad things, I felt love instead of pure terror, and then I fell asleep. I woke up feeling very happy and confused. :D

Heh, I remember one time, when I was a teenager, back when I was still a Christian, I stayed up late one night puzzling over God, when I suddenly had this realization. It was all about the Big Bang, the formation of galaxies, stars, planets, Earth, the incredibleness of a group of molecules being able to arrange themselves in such a way as to be able to duplicate themselves, the evolution of life, the existence of us... Really, it was just the most awe-inspiring thing ever, and the most incredible part was the fact that it was all governed by a simple set of rules, without any outside interference.

I guess it was also my first step toward atheism, because I suddenly realized "Screw magical sky daddies, this is so much more incredible than any deity a bunch of desert-dwelling nomads could concoct." In my terms at the time, I saw God not as a bearded dude who lives in the sky, but rather, the sum total of those forces which created us. And really, I still basically think in those terms today, just only without the word God, because that implies that there's some sentient being behind it, which I find to be an incredibly naive view.

To quote Paul F. Tompkins, "Well no one believes that, you condescending dick. Stop saying that. There's no religion that thinks that...It's not written down anywhere."

O: I had to post that. It fit. But maybe some people do believe God is an old man who sits on a cloud… I dunno. I just like pulling quotes from stand-up comics.

That's Jesus. He is the human manifestation of God (allegedly). Believing Jesus is God isn't the same as having that "father time" image of an old bloke with a long white beard in the sky. No religion depicts God that way.

But enough of this - goddamnit, I really hate when you're in a science lab class and you get stuck with a group who has no clue what the hell they're doing. It's like they're beyond useless - they try to help, but whenever they do they end up screwing things up and you just wanna be like "Okay, get the hell away from the experiment and let me record all the data. And process it. And do the write-up. Because dear God, what you people are doing is frightening."

Okay, I know I shouldn't bitch too much - I mean, they're just first-years, maybe I'm being a little hard on them, but still, ugh, it's just aggravating.

Also, rock_nog, I will add this rather obvious thought to your thoughts on what God is, at the formation of the universe: Something had to be there for it all to have began, even before the big bang. If the big bang was a stick of dynamite exploding, who lit the fuse? Who put the dynamite where it was? Who built the dynamite? Hell, who thought up the dynamite in the first place? So yes, up until all of that, I am agnostic. But the more "behind the scenes" you get, the harder and harder it gets to deny a God of some sort doing all of that. It's all well and good that the Big Bang explains a lot of what God already has been said to have done, but what caused the big bang?

Why is it so hard to say we don't yet know what caused the big bang? Why is that such a hang-up with religious people? Why must we say "Well we don't know, so that MUST mean it's GOD!!!" No, I'm not going to do it. Maybe there's a God, maybe he's responsible, but without any evidence, it's positively asinine to claim that somehow the God hypothesis is more credible than anything else.

At any rate, that's a dangerous place to go. Attributing it to God is saying "We don't need to investigate further, let's just give up." And besides that, given that we know absolutely nothing about God, that answer tells us absolutely nothing about the universe. It's completely worthless.

It's an anime character contest. People nominate, then vote for different characters, with people making predictions on which ones make it through. Yes, it's stupid, and more or less like an anime version of the prediction contests held annually for the Super Bowl. Some of the things people come up with to entice votes, though, are hilariously awesome.

Anyone or anything that makes an appearance in any kind of anime becomes a potential competitor. Batman's a current competitor (currently set to battle against God), and Clint Eastwood & Charlton Heston were contenders (thanks to a cameo appearance in a comedy) who got knocked out earlier. (By the exact same god.)

And yeah, the threads are open only to people who have accounts. :S Google keeps copies of the threads, though. Like so (http://209.85.173.132/search?q=cache:1zUT2zKXOgIJ:forums.megatokyo.com/index.php%3Fshowtopic%3D1732987%26st%3D0+site:foru ms.megatokyo.com+flying+goddamned+shark&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&client=firefox-a). Alright, that's it - next person who says the Earth is less than 10,000 years old, or that life on Earth is less than 10,000 years old, is seriously getting a boot up their ass. Nothing personal Russ, this isn't directed at you. I'm just sick of all the crap that these people say and then claim it's science. Or worse yet, citing the Bible as proof of the Bible's veracity (of course the Bible is true, it says so in the Bible).

And seriously, even if there were a God, I don't think he'd be too keen on people lying in His name, which is exactly what these people are doing. Claiming the Earth is 10,000 years old is most definitely a lie, especially when you make up lies to to support your argument, and really, I just can't think of anything more offensive than lying in the name of your deity.

I don't really wanna start a new thread, so I'll just ask here. First, I'm a fairly average computer user. I use my computer mostly for dicking around, and the occasional gaming. My current specs are 2.66GHz processor with 2GB RAM, and a 256MB video card. This is fine for me, but I'm seriously thinking of getting a laptop.

The one I'm looking at (http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=370) has 4GB of RAM, and a ~4GHz processor. I would like more RAM more than anything, since after talking with my computer expert neighbor (the guy who gave me this computer) I learned the processor speed isn't really that important for general use. He said RAM is what really matters. if you have 4GB of RAM, there won't be a noticeable difference in performance between a 2GHz and a 4GHz processor. I dunno how true it is, but he seems to know his shit. It made sense. I guess I'd like the option for a more powerful processor.

Basically, I'm asking if this computer is worth it for your average Windows user who uses Media player, Firefox, and photo shop, watches movies, and plays the occasional 3D game.

I perform a satanic ritual sacrificing the cream cheese. Blend all the ingredients together. That's all you do.

I agree. Cream Cheese is devil-spawn. Blech.

I don't eat cream cheese on anything and hate the smell but you can't even taste it in the pie.

It's delicious. I have had this before and it's sooooo good!

At least someone has good taste in desserts. It's even better with chocolate chips in it erm.

I made one the other day because we were going to celebrate my nieces birthday. My youngest niece is running a fever and throwing up so we moved it to Wednesday. No big deal, it's good for a week. I came home to find the pie missing. My dad's damn wife took the pie to her parents. Bitch owes me a pie now. And yes we don't get along. Only a few more months before I'm back in the apartment.

Except now she thinks she has it all figured out. She's also recently decided to go on a 9 day rice and water fast to attone for our relationship. The thing with her parents is pretty sad actually, her dad like won't even talk to her on the phone.

Just sounds like a serious mental and possibly physical health hazard, to me. Hell, I feel like I need a drink just thinking about the situation.

As usual, I'd go with Prry's advice - she's like the forum Yoda. Though part of me is incredibly bothered by the whole thing - sounds like she's got serious issues, and rather than dealing with them/getting help she decided to hide from them in a convent.

I called the company once before cause they never had the nacho one even though they said it on the can, and they brought it back for about a month many years ago, then it disappeared right along with the bacon and cheddaar one. Weird, and it makes me quite angry. I guess its about time to call and give them a load of crap again and see if they bring it back.

Are you guys talking about like, Easy Mac? I never thought the bacon and cheese would be good. I never tried it. I think they sell it around here though, if that's what you're talking about. Is it good?

easy cheese is a cheese like substance that comes in a shaving cream can

Oh. Interesting. So like Cheese Whiz? That stuff is good, but I don't know about the cheese and bacon deal. Have you ever had it, odinson? Or anyone else? Is it actually pretty good?

I've only had the regular kind of easy cheese. I guess it's like cheese wiz, I don't think I've ever eaten cheese wiz.

Are you from the United States? Or maybe Cheese Whiz is like, a fictional product modeled after Easy Cheese. I don't eat cheese out of cans very often, ha ha. Though, that kind of shit is good on Ritz crackers.

odinson
04-05-2009, 05:21 PM
Yes, I am from the united states. Only cheese whiz I've ever seen is a dip that comes in a jar. If I'm going to eat something as unhealthy as fake cheese I figure I might as well go all the way with it and get easy cheese.

True that man, true that. An interesting cheese concept I heard of while reading Death of a Salesman is fucking whipped cheese. Like a spreadable cheese, probably something like Easy Cheese, but in a container. I wonder how that would taste.

how about an easy cheese filled chocolate cup?

04-05-2009, 06:37 PM
So basically, you want an Easy Cheese Cup? Yum. After they make those, they can make spin offs, like Easter egg shaped chocolate cups filled with cheese, and Christmas trees filled with cheese. Then they can do the inverted one, where there is a cheese cup filled with chocolate.

That all sounds amazing.

odinson
04-05-2009, 06:43 PM
but of course they will need to make the cheese a bit sugary, like the reese's peanut butter, or else it would taste funny with the chocolate

Link 101
04-05-2009, 06:59 PM
Yeah. I guess you're right. Reese's peanut butter definitely doesn't taste like regular old peanut butter. It's regular peanut butter plus something like...15g of sugar or some shit. Just a rough estimate, don't quote me on that.

Shit, now I want fuckin' Reese's cups. Thanks a lot DUDE.

Well I hope you're happy. Russell is dead.
Na, don't worry. The defibrillator kept me going. :D

So yesterday I dropped my DS, and the hinge broke, and the bottom left corner got dinged up. So I called Nintendo. Now that the DSi's out, the repair fee is 82 dollars. Sheesh. Plus Nintendo's hold music is some annoying tropical remix of the Mario theme song, which gets on your nerves real quickly.

I know how you feel Russ.

Nintendo wanted to charge me 90 bucks for a replacement DS, because they don't cover hinge cracks anymore for some reason.

My mom offered to get me a new DS for my birthday though, so it's all ok. (although I can never falthom HOw I got TWO hinge cracks, when I've been trating my DS really really carefully since my LAST huinge crack incident.)

Oh, and as tempting as the DSi sounds, I'll pass. Apparently, using an R4 doesn't work on those. And although I doubt them, I've heard rumors of bricked DSis due to flashcarts.

I was talking to my friend today, "she's a vegetarian, who only consumes vegetables and fruit. and stuff made from it." And I asked her if she would eat nuts, pasta, grains, etc. She said no because it doesn't come plants. I think she failed out of school with that kind of response . I didn't say anything mean though and quickly changed the subject to video games to make her feel more secure since vegetarianism is her soft spot. Do you think I should of corrected her?

Beans are legumes. Poultry are birds.

I thought you were just making insane statements, like somehow nuts = birds or something. Sorry.

Grape flavored propel isn't bad. I don't drink it when I work out though because of the after taste it leaves. Water beats nearly any drink out there. Alcoholic drink would be Jack and Coke.

I know how you feel. Half the time I play DS, it's a GBA game, and I use my M3 for everything (I made backups of all my DS games and save files on it). There's a DSi specific flash card, but I don't want to have to buy another one, and I still won't be able to play GBA games.

I've been pissing like a race horse
You're the second person I've ever heard say that. The only other person is my friend's girlfriend, who always says "I have to pee like a racehorse". I personally find the phrase to be very strange.

I personally find the phrase to be very strange.

Why? Are you under any sort of impression other than that when horses pee, its a garden hose like stream that will leave a very large pool of urine.

Hope this helps.

Fake EDIT: I either know this because as a kid in rural Idaho, I had opportunities to spend time in places where horses were kept, or I'm a degenerate who likes to watch horses urinate. You decide.

That IS interesting that you've never heard that phrase much before. I hear people say it all the time, or at least I think I do. Maybe it's just my imagination. The phrase does make sense, nonetheless, because I would assume horses pee a whole bunch, like Daarkseid has pointed out. And boy was I peeing a whole bunch last night.

I kind of wish I owned a horse or something. I've ridden a horse before with my good man Yoshiman at his uncle's or something. It was very fun, and I'd like to do it again sometime.

Honestly, I just deduced the meaning of that expression from the expression "hung like a horse." I figure, if horses are known for being well-hung, then I imagine that when they piss, it's like a fire hose or something.

Bleh, I drink atleast a 24oz bottle of pepsi everyday. I do the awesome $5 trick at the soda machine at work, where you put in a $5, the LED display reads "3.00" [for whatever reason]. Then you pick a soda, it comes out, and the display changes to "2.00". So then you hit the change return button, and it pops out the $5 bill thinking it's a $1, AND gives you four quarters...which then go into the snack machine right next to it.

Turkey Hill Green Tea is also good stuff. I usually drink that when I airsoft, since soda gives you a terrible energy crash.

Archangel

You should raid the machine at your work and put the sodas on the desk of what ever you don't like.
