Btw, if it's any explanation, I've only ever had one other dog to call my own and I had to give him up when I was 14 years old. my family moved a lot and we ended up someplace that didn't allow dogs. I'm making up for that with Nanookers.

I've been shopping for a camcorder for a few months now and found quite possibly the best quality for the price SD/DVD camcorder. It's refurbished, but you're getting a $400 camcorder for more than 50% off. Plus you can get a 2 year warranty, so if anything goes wrong they'll replace it with a new one.

Damn, I suck at kite-flying. I had to sit through a school board meeting one of my classes... Dear God, couldn't possibly have been any more boring. Anyway, I decided I need a nice break - it's a nice day out, there was a nice breeze, so I figured, hey, I'll go fly a kite. No sooner had I set foot outside, kite in hand, then suddenly the gusty breeze just died. I swear, I have the worst luck - a hurricane could be blowing outside, and the wind would probably still die the instant I stepped out with a kite in hand.

No, I just have a kite - you never know when you might need a kite, after all. I bought one a while back, but I got rid of it in my cross-country moving affair (wanted to try to travel as light as possible - shipping stuff across the country is expensive, and you can only take so much stuff on the Greyhound). Recently, though, I picked up another one, because the weather's finally started getting nice around here. Just one of those things I always like to have on hand.

I'm back from Chicago. I'll have a few details tomorrow about Blue Man Group and Medieval Times.

Okay, what the heck, I might as well.

Friday night was Blue Man Group. It was basically a rock concert/comedy show. I highly recommend you go to one.

Saturday afternoon was the Navy Pier, which really wasn't anything too special. There's shopping, a few rides, and more shopping. I think you can also ride a ship.

Saturday evening was the Magnificent Mile. Again, nothing too special. It felt a lot like New York.

Saturday night was the Medieval Times dinner and tournament show. It was completely awesome. There were sword fights that would put some Zelda sequences to shame. See for yourself: (part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-m0OylFgGs&feature=related)/part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_W8IQ2o5_8&feature=related)). Those aren't my videos, by the way. I strongly recommend that you visit a Medieval Times near you.

Sunday morning was the Field Museum. Honestly.....it was just a museum.

Medieval Times. Scoff. Next time your in the area in summer, go to the Bristol Renassaince Faire. Far far, better. And no, I am not prejudiced for any reason. Its not like I work for them or anything...

They took you to the Field Museum? Your right, it is just a museum. You should have gone to the Museum of Science and Industry, or at least the Shedd Aquarium.

It means we can run around in T-shirts and shorts in April.
It means we can ride our bikes everywhere.

And it means it's ALLERGY SEASON!

I took a few Halls to lessen the pain...but then I woke up again later, in pain again. Awww hell, I'm just dreading the fact that soon it will be summer in Saint Paul. Though Minnesota is generally known for its frigid winters, its summers are no less epic, though perhaps more brief. Sure, the temperature only goes into the 90s most of the time, which isn't too bad when you're used to the desert wasteland that is McAllen, TX, but the humidity shoots up to roughly 120%. And yes, I realize that's physically impossible, but believe me, once you experience it, you'll agree. There's nothing like walking down the street and realizing that you can't see into any of the local shops because of the AC-caused condensation on all of the windows.

And on top of that, you've got the bugs. The mosquitos are just downright wretched, the bees are obnoxious, and beyond the usual suspects, you have to contend with... Asian lady beetles. Oh, these things are just vicious. For all appearances, they look pretty much like lady bugs - though not as many spots. However, they swarm ALL OVER the frickin' place. But that's not the real problem. The real problem is, they freakin' bite. It's not as bad a bee sting, but it's definitely worse than a mosquito bite. Ugh, and it's almost impossible to not run into a swarm of them during the peak summer months. Wretched, dreaded things... But eh, that's life in Minnesota for you. Despite the harsh environment, in some ways more brutal than the desert atmosphere of McAllen, I've decided to make this place my home. Oh well... There's a useful phrase for coping around here - "It's character-building."

Wow...I just had one of the most retarded nights of sleep in YEARS.

I went to bed about 9:30.

I wake up at 11:53, and my pillow if super uncomfortable for some reason. Luckily, I still had my old pillow (which is REALLY soft and mushy...and I usually like firm ones), and that helped.

...then, I had some really stupid dreams and half dreams. Did I ever mention that I HATE HATE HATE dreaming about playing video games? My dreams of them get super complicated and make no sense at als. (For the record, I was dreaming of "The World Ends With You" and I was dreaming of super complicated random setting which don't exist). Then I'd suddenly wake up, and glance at the clock, only to realize that I'd only slept for one half hour. ...12:30....1:11...1:34...all the way to 3:30 AM, when I got up to get some water (and had to go to the downstairs bathroom for it, since my own is being renovated). When I got back into bed, I couldn't sleep for another hour or so.

Then, I get a lucky break. I slept all the way to 6:45. ...which puzzled me, since I set my DS alarm to 6:30. I hit snooze...and I wake up at 7. ...Hit it again...and my alarm goes off at 7:30, leaving me with half an hour less than usual to eat, get ready, and run for the bus. Either my DS is messing up with the time, or...I'm starting to sleep through it, which is very very bad...

...anyway...yeah, last night really sucked hardcore for me. I'm the kind of guy who needs a good 7-8 hours of either sleep, or deep rest. ...I hate this effing allergy season. ...It's worse than usual. Well...at least I'm feeling a bit better than yesterday... But If I have another crappy night like that last one...

See, this is what I face in Minnesota on a regular basis. I blew it, didn't I? I think I hit 1,000 in the "Rush" thread in the Think Tank. Really, there were two factors contributing to my lack of a "1,000 posts" thread. One is that, being that I've had a couple of different screen names in the past (for which I'm terribly sorry, and I seriously had no intention of changing, just so I can go on record), in real terms, I hit 1,000 long ago. The second was that I just really didn't care that much. Wait, actually, there were three factors, the third being that, well, everybody does it, so I figured I'd be a rebel. I suppose this kind of negates that, though, but in fairness, I only did it in response to your comment, Phattonez.

My family's been getting some good deals at yard sales lately. Just today, we got a PDA (an HP iPAQ) for 2 bucks, and last week we got a Dreamcast (for free, if I remember correctly, since we bought some other stuff from the people trying to get rid of it). ...Part of the reason we got such good deals on them, though, is because the AV cable's missing from the Dreamcast and the iPAQ has a busted sync/power cable.

My thoughts exaclty (minus the library). It takes me about half an hour to walk to my friend's house (the one my bunch of friends always hang out at). By bike...it's ten minutes. SOOO much better.

-Midbies, people from 2 to 5 years who are really active and stuff. Prime examples: Pineconn and myself,
-Newbies, who although are fairly new establish themselves as fairly coherent and contributing members to the community. People like Blisspath and Bobrocks95.
-n00bs, people who we can slightly disdain and look down on but can't truly ridicule because they aren't actively annoying. A lot of people around ZC help.
-LightningZ and kin.

I certainly used to be. Better known by the name of LifeGenesis, it was interesting to see the possibilities you could get with a cell pattern and a seemingly natural set of rules to operate on that pattern. Not only could you have the Glider you've got pictured above, but you can make an Eater among a multitude of other things. I was fascinated by what would eventually happen to a straight line of cells, running from start to finish and each run starting with one more cell in the row than the run before.

In my opinion, it would be more interesting if they were able to eliminate the edge effect, most simply by wrapping movement through the edges from one side to the other and from top to bottom and vice versa.

So, I don't believe in using any SAT Prep, but maybe that's because I never needed it (I also think it's contrary to the spirit of the SAT - it's supposed to test how much you know, not how well you can learn the test). Obviously prep books are worthless if you only use it the night before, but if you work on it for a few months beforehand I'm sure it's helpful. 13 is way too young to worry about the SAT, though.

Also, if your performance declines so badly on a multiple choice test, all I can say is - good luck in college, you'll need it. Last quarter I took two 3 hour long tests with essay and short answer questions in one day followed by two more 3 hour long math tests the next day. And yes, they take the full three hours in some classes.

Oh, it's not the multiple choice that gets me. That's the easiest part, followed by short answers and essays. I could pull an A on an English or Math final, no problem. What broke me on the SAT though, is an entire reading comprehension section about rugs, followed by a strangely worded passage about a run-down house.

IIRC, I did pull an above average score on the SAT. Though I'm kinda kicking myself for glancing and filling on several of them near the end.

God... Damn SAT. I never got those analogy sections - not that I did poorly on them, but as far as I could tell, they were basically a measure of your ability to read the test creator's mind. I mean, I guess they were supposed to measure comprehension or something like that, but come on, there were always at least two different ways you could read the question.

A quick Mario Kart: Double Dash!! lesson.

How to dodge a red shell: This is very easy. When you hear the red shell coming, immediately go into a power slide. Quickly go into blue sparks, and when the red shell is on the screen but has not hit you, release the mini-turbo. Turning slightly also helps.

How to dodge a blue shell: This is very hard. Again, when you see or hear that a blue shell is coming, go into a power slide and get blue sparks. The nature of the blue shell is much different (considering it flies) than the red shell. It'll appear on the screen much longer than the red shell; that is, it'll dip back and ram into at full speed. You have to turn sharply and release your mini-turbo when it is no more than a few inches from hitting you. This all happens very quickly, which makes it very difficult to do. I've dodged only 4 or 5 in my Double Dash!! career. [Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Diq-u6IdtmI)] is a good YouTube video about blue shells. Note that a lot of blue shell dodging involves luck. ;)

Like Amaster said, it's not the same thing. One is learning something useful, the other is wasting time stressing over a test you won't take for several years. One that I never spent any time studying for and performed quite well on. I would fully encourage you to keep on studying algebra, or whatever topics that may be considered too advanced for you. I took the SAT once in my junior year and got a 1550 including an 800 in math. If that score seems kind of low to you, it's because it was out of a possible 1600 since it was before they added the essay section to the SAT. I'm glad I managed to miss that hoop.

We keep a rather extensive notebook featuring multicolored text to keep track of what books we have out, when they're due, etc. Makes things a lot easier to keep track of. Keep all books in the same place, have a "Library bag," and keep all books in the same place when not being read. We haven't had an overdue book in forever, with the casual exception for when my sister takes a book into her room and "forgets" where she puts it, and we find it under her bed weeks later.

Our library system tell us exactly how many books we have overdue, and when they are overdue, and sends us a message as soon as we have one overdue. So we hardly ever have late fees. Plus, it's just 10 cents a day.

Beliefs in general are absurd. I don't care what you believe - to believe in anything is just ridiculous. I mean, you can't know that gravity will still work tomorrow - so how is it that anyone can believe in anything less concrete than gravity? And yet, despite the fact that we can't know that gravity will work tomorrow, people claim that they know that God exists. How can you be more sure of the existence of an unseen deity than you are about gravity? It's mind-boggling, really.

In closing, I just want to say that I think Socrates said it best - "The only thing that I know is that I know nothing."

First of all, evolution cannot be proved with the Scientif Method. The Scientif Method requires observation, and we cannot obsorve evolution or the big bang.

Second, evolution is in disagreement with the second lar of therodynamics, which states that everything becomes disordered as time passes on. Evoltion says things get more advanced, which disagrees with the law.

Third, well, I'm too tired now. We can continue this debate tomorrow.

DarkDragoonX

How does the Second Law of Thermodynamics apply to evolution? As far as I can tell it applies to (and I may be going out on a limb here) thermodynamics. Trying to use the properties of thermodynamics to argue against evolution is like trying to use the laws of gravity to convince somebody that if I move my cursor to the top of my monitor, it should fall to the bottom.

You don't know anything about how evolution works, so you're opinion is null at best.

It is a known fact to people who actually read books that thermodynamics has NOTHING to do with evolution.

Second, there is no proof for the theory of gravity either. Both the theory of evolution and the theory of gravity have massive amounts of empirical scientific evidence.

It's not worth arguing about though because you don't know enough about science, the scientific method, or probably anything, to make it worth anyone's while to make up for your appalling lack of education.

1) It's called FOSSILS (and the like)

2) I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that physics has nothing to do with evolution (they actually don't but sarcasm is hard ;_;). Things don't get more advanced from evolution, they just change. Whether or not the change is beneficial is another story.

This thread is bigger than a Katamari. If it gets archived, it'll need its own category just to keep it from squashing all the other threads.

I wonder if you can see this thread from outer space. O:

Maybe all of the April Fool's posts values were taken away.
Na, I had over 50 posts from that one day. Le Resistance was a post using job you know.

This thread should be pruned.
This is further proof that you are the devil. On April Fool's Day, this thread was closed. The result was mass rebellion.

I wonder if you can see this thread from outer space. O:
Well, it's longer than the Great Wall of China, so I wouldn't be surprised.

@beldaran: 0_o *picks up phone and calls the nearest demon-busting establishement, and then summons a SoulBlazer for good measure*

That thing is just scary.

So I just woke up after coming back from class and going right to sleep. That's 3 hours of sleep and I have a class I should be at right now. I'm pretty sure that this means I'm sick, so I guess this is the first time in about 2 years that I'm sick.

Great.

Man, tomorrows gonna suck. I've got the AP English test, and the second half consisted of writing three essays in 120 minutes. I'll be great through the first, alright through the second, but by the time I reach the third, I know it'll be like "Aww, man, my hand is cramping, I'm tired, I can't think straight, screw it, I'll just BS this one"

They need to take that into account when grading these things.
