Hey guys. Some of you might be interested in knowing that I passed my promotion board yesterday. I'll be getting promoted to Sergeant within the next couple of months provided I make the cutoff score for promotion points. If not, I have some correspondance courses to do to make up for the lack of promotion points I have. I've been in California for the last month at Ft. Irwin for NTC (National Training Center). Its been hell. I'd rather be in Iraq.

I'd like to throw you my congratulations as well. I've always been fascinated with the military ranking system. Two of my friends IRL attained the rank of Corporal when they were in the Marines.

So, what are the extra duties you will be doing as a Sergeant opposed to what you do now?

Sergeant, HA! Your miniscule succession is meaningless in the presence of I, a Kaiser!

. . . I mean, congrats!

CPL in the Marines and the Army are a bit different. You automatically get CPL in the Marines when you hit the pay grade of E-4. In the army, you become a Specialist, and if you show enough leadership potential, you get a lateral promotion to CPL. That being said, I'm not going to be doing anything different along the lines of duties when I get promoted. CPL is a hard rank in the army, because you have all the duties and responsibilities as a SGT, but you get the pay and respect of a SPC (Specialist), who isn't an NCO (Non Commissioned Officer). I'll still be in charge of the network and the computers hooked into it across my batallion. In other words, I set up the network, let it run...then install printer drivers to people who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to computers. That and I get my own personal lackies (privates) to do my legwork for me.

I just thought I'd let everyone know that I decided to promote myself to "Supreme Commander of Having a Huge Cock and a Bright Future"

Do you get to tell the Privates to drop and do 20 pushups if they do something dumb like turn the computer off without shutting down?

Yup. Usually its for more than 20 pushups though. If they do really stupid crap, I'll smoke the shit outta them. One of my privates forgot to fill the generator that was powering our satallite dish when we were out at Ft. Irwin. We lost all our tactical internet in the middle of the night. I smoked the shit out of him and wrote a pretty nasty counseling statement. You gotta have a firm hand with privates or they don't learn.

What helped him get his promotion is the fact that he can do a mean Sgt. Schutlze impressination. Congrats man.

To be honest, I thought that sentence was doing a pretty smashing job without it, but it never hurts.

Congratulations Sgt. Brasel, though!
