When you open the DMap editor, go to the appearance tab, and the options for changing a pallete are in there.

Oh welll...
Love, peace, and groovy... dude or dudette, it's like a mushroom thing...
But I think you must be talking psychedelic with all those cool colors and effects and whirliebird looking things hanging from the trees right after the fourth hit.... instead of phsicadelic or whatever that is, but then if it was big cat daddy that told you he had to be right cause like man... big cat daddy knows where he stands, and we little people will let the cats word stand man.

The term he's looking for is "psychadelic". I believe that word is now used to describe neon colors, but I'm not sure.

But yeah, setting the colors in the Appearances tab of the DMap editor works. Simply setting them under palettes on the screen won't work at all- That's just for viewing what everything looks like.

psychedelic....
according to my big red fancy Webster's New World Pocket Dictionary

psychedelic; of or causing extreme changes in the conscious mind.

and that gets you back for that whole "dark room" thing. ;) remember what the door mouse said... feed your head.
