1. Creating the Chest Combo
-Create a solid combo that looks like a chest with the type "slash."
-Create another combo that looks like an opened chest with the top half solid.
2. Setting the Appropriate Flag
-Place the treasure chest combo on the screen.
-Place flag #10 on the screen over the treasure chest combo (Tools -> Flags).
3. Setting the Chest's Treasure
-Change the room type to Special Item (Data -> Room Type; double-click "special item").
-Select the appropriate item that you would want inside of the treasure chest (Data -> Special Item; select the item).
4. Setting the Under Combo
-Select the opened treasure chest combo.
-Go to Data -> Under Combo.
-Set the under combo as the opened chest! That's it!
It may seem like a lot, but it's pretty simple. I hope that answers your question.

If you're using any of the newer 2.11 betas, you can use the new Treasure Chest combos. They open when you push on them, but only from the bottom. Nomal ones require no key, and you can easily tell what the others need.
Setting up Treasure Chests (2.11):
1: Choose your combo. Give it a Treasure Chest combo type.
2: Set it on the screen and put flag 10 on it (Armos->Item).
3: Set the room's Special Item to whatever you want the Chest to give.
4: Place the "opened chest" combo as the very next combo in the editor, one combo to the right of the closed chest.
Done. :D See? Simple, efficient, and lets you have an undercombo for the screen! It wastes a tile, though... But you have over 10,000 of the things to work with! :)
