I've spent the last few days trying to understand Layers in ZQuest 2.10. For the most part I think I have a solid grasp on the concept, and have made several successful mini-quests using Layers.
However, I'm a little confused by how Layers 1 and 2 work, with respect to Layer 0. I've seen several tutorials/posts indicating that Link is on Layer 0, and that Layers 1 and 2 are "under" Link. It seems to me that this is sort-of true, but there are some oddities....I hope my following descriptions make sense....
For example, even though the Combos on Layer 1 are "under" Link, it seems that the Layer itself is "over" Layer 0, in that I have to use transparent combos in Layer 1 to see Layer 0 when I have Layer 1 turned on. I guess I was expecting Layer 0 to block out Layer 1 (since I thought Link was on Layer 0), not the opposite.
Also, evidently if I have a combo on Level 1 that is impassible (un-walkable?) Link can't walk over it even though it's on a Layer that is supposedly "under" Link....? I was expecting Link to be able to walk right over/through any Combos on Layers 1 and 2, since they are "under" him.
Can someone confirm this or let me know if I'm doing something wrong or stupid?
Also, if Layers 1 and 2 really are set up to work as I've witnessed, I'm curious if anyone has discovered a use for them....it seems you'd get the same effect putting all the Layer 1 and 2 stuff right on Layer 0.
