View Full Version : Multiple non-linear dungeon entrances - are they possible?

Hello all, Scotian Gold here. I would like to know if it's yet possible to create multiple dungeon entrances that work correctly. This means that when Link dies, he would get sent back to the last dungeon entrance he passed through.

I know this can be achieved using LINEAR dungeon entrances (ensuring Link passes through entrances/exits in a specific order), but what about NON-LINEAR entrances? Imagine a dungeon with four possible entrances, all of which are available for Link to enter/exit at any time. How do you ensure that when Link dies, he gets sent to the proper entrance on continue?

Hopefully I was clear enough. So is this currently possible? Or is this something that will involve the new scripting language? Or perhaps 2.5? Or not at all?!?

Thanks!

Sure. Each entrance takes you to a one-screen DMAP with "continue here" checked. That'll do it.

While this will work fine in 2.10, the betas have more recent additions that'll make this much easier :P

If you mean by saving, then what C-Dawg said will work. If you mean by simply continuing, that's done in ALL versions, provided you use "Entrance/Exit Warp". That automatically sets the continue (but not save) point. Good luck on your quest, by the way. ;)

jman2050, you sound just like my father...that is to say, you know the answer but didn't share it! I am currently using B14 so why don't you tell me what the new addition is? I'm at the pre-planning stage of my dungeon layouts (which are linked to the overworld) and I want to know all my options before taking what I have on paper and putting it in ZQ. The last thing me and my team need is to make the wrong decision at the pre-planning stage. :)

Sorry about that. Simply use the 'continue here' screen flag and you should be good to go :)
