God damn, that movie rocked.

Anybody else seen this awsomely cool film? Or would you prefer to go see some crappy little animated film about penguins?

My friends went and saw Bond because Happy Feet was sold out. I think that says enough right there.

I'm looking forward to this movie. It comes out on December 7, along with something else that comes out on that day, so i'm not sure when i'll get to see it.

What's the other thing that comes out?

December 7th? I do believe that's when the Wii comes out in Europe.

And my question is, why would your friends want to see Happy Feet rather than the best action film since The Bourne Supremacy? Are they insane or something?

I will indeed, be too busy with the Wii to see Casino Royale. I will, however, be seeing it in a "Gold Class" theatre when i do see it (i've got some spare tickets). You guys have those up there, right, an awesome theatre with huge comfortable recliner chairs, table service (fully licensed, so you can get hammered during a movie, too).

Stop pretending you don't get it nearly 2 days after me :P

Oh, it's the 9th? My bad - when you're going to not getting one, the actual date is a little hard to remember.

This movie definitely rocked. It was the one of the best Bond movies to date.

No, the 8th is when europe gets wii, but the time difference makes it seem more like AU gets Wii 48 hours before EU.

I'll see the new Bond movie when it comes out on DVD. Personally other than Goldeneye I never cared too much for Bond.

Seriously, you wanna see this one. It's more Bourne then Bond - and I really do mean that. No gadgets, no cheesy lines, no throwaway girls... just pure, raw plot. And that chase sequence that takes place near the beginning will leave your mind in a big gooey mess all over the floor, along with your jaw.

Do get it on DVD though - I've no doubt the extras will kick just as much ass as the film itself.

I haven't really seen many bond movies, I think I saw part of Moonraker and I've seen Goldfinger and I think ive seen Dr.No and some others. Anyways, All I've heard from anyone is this is the best bond movie ever, but people describe it and it seems like it is everything that isn't a bond movie. No Gadgets, Cars, Cheesy Lines what evers? That IS Bond to me. The actor looks like one of Bonds enemies rather than Bond himself.

Shaken or Stirred "I honestly don't give a damn"(prolly quoted wrong but its the same idea)? Thats a pretty cheesy line, only cheesy on the bad level.

I dunno Bond movies too me have been cheesy and explosive and all that garble. I'm on the fence. I think I'm prolly gonna just wait and rent it too maybe.

Also I disliked the Bourne etc. movies. :P

I love that movie.
"And Bond, never break into my appartment again". Priceless.

it was a good movie. That guy kicks ass as a bond.

but it didnt have any little technological surprises like the normal bonds do! Where were the laser watches and the car that did thousands of different things? that annoyed me.... It wasn't a real bond cause it was missing so much... :( maybe the next will be better

edit: it was a great movie though just not a james bond... made me upset I almost cried.

It was a Bond movie in the sense that it was very faithful to the book. In Ian Fleming's novels, Bond is little more then a blunt instrument (although he did become somewhat more complex as time went on), and this movie was very close to that vision.

There were one or two gadgets (the medical kit in his car, for example) but they were very believable and didn't spoil the mood at all.

And can anyone who's seen this film honestly tell me they didn't cringe during THAT torture scene? Although that said, there were some very good lines during that bit... "No! Left!"

Casino Royale was Bond's first assignment. This movie was a re-telling of the very first James Bond... which is why he has no fancy gadgets (M doesn't exaclty like/trust him). It was kind of interesting to see how he met M, got his Vanquish etc.

The reason why I liked this movie better than a lot of other Bond movies is that it was a damn good spy movie. Yeah Bond has some cool gadgets, but above all he is a spy.

I like to think of 'James Bond' as a code-name per-se. That'd explain how we can have 6 different Bonds, why they never seem to age, etc. That way, this would be the latest Bond, and it would make sense as to why his very first assignment uses stuff like Mobile Phones and Laptops, and why M is a woman as opposed to a man (ala Dr No, etc).

Just my thoughts.
