Hidden Duality: How to reach level 3?

I know what the man in red said about a desert, but having explored my current area, I see no way to reach it.

are you in the other world or are you still in the light world? Because its pretty east to find your way there utilizing your new red candle, start looking for green bushes to burn. (not the ones you cut)

I got to the desert but have only the tools gotten from the first two levels and the surrounding shops, plus the crystal (bait) and one piece of heart. What now?

well, the level 3 entrance is pretty obvious once you start exploring the desert. There are two entrances to the desert, one near the place you entered the dark world from, and one further west. The one further west is the WRONG one and plays int the whole level 4 bit. You'll need to burn a bush to get to the correct desert entrance. From there, its pretty darn obvious, the only big structure that is in the desert is level 3.
