Actually, the typo "lawer" is interesting, because it's almost like an etymological throwback; when you affix the -er suffix to some of those old words than end in a W, it becomes -yer. Thus, a lawyer is so called because he or she works with the law. It's like how a sawyer works with a saw and a bowyer makes bows. Cool, huh?
