I took this quiz and scored (3, -2) which surprised me as I figured I'd be more neutral on the non-science/science scale. I blame this on the polarization of that issue and the fact that many questions seem to focus on the polarized view of that issue, for example I read some questions as:

Do you believe...
[ ] Science has produced tons of evidence to support evolution. Evolution rocks!
[ ] God the Father will condemn you to Hell for such blasphemy sinner!
[ ] Rephrasing of first choice.
[ ] Rephrasing of second choice.

Still, I think it might be neat to see how other people here do (I have my predictions). http://www.atmaweapon.org/images/emot/shobon.gif

At least I'm not in the same quadrant as Bush, bin Laden, or Pat Robertson. That would have made me pretty much say the quiz is invalid.

Also the link is here (http://www.commongood.org/worldview_quiz.htm) thanks for pointing out my failure.

It'd also be neat for a link.

I'm curious as to how they got George Bush and Osama Bin Laden to take the test.

I was two notches south of you and Carl, Beldaran. I can see why we get along so well.

I'd like it if, after the quiz was over, it would tell you what impact each question had on your result.

Close to Clinton; my dot was one higher than his.

On almost all of the questions I went with the "I don't know" type answers. I'm agnostic and try to keep an open mind at all times. However, I think scientific progress is good and have strong views that an individual should be allowed to keep to and be responsible for themselves- and only have as much control over others as is necessary for safety/crime preventation- ideally. Also, farg/frell/frak Pat Robertson.

I could swear this was posted at AGN before, though... I've seen these graphs I think.

Though mainly due to the fact I had quite a few "other" answers.

(10,4)

PS, the concept of fitting all of that into "Science vs Non-Science" is total horseshit.

Besides any other inaccuracies, one may argue that a true scientist- which isn't necessarily to say real scientists- doesn't make any assumptions, and utterly investigates everything. To have a true, fair, scientific, analytic approach, one must keep many possibilities open; everything must be a theory, with different degrees of likelyhood based on various factors.

But answering "I don't know" a lot gives you a medium score.

Me too. :) Carl Sagan rocked.

Jennifer: We're talking about world view not what you can clearly state as fact. It's what your opinion on things are. Pure skepticism is hardly a healthy angle to approach science. Eventually something has to be accepted as fact with enough testing. It's good to keep open-minded and to not attach oneself to a theory though.
