PS3 Auctions on eBay (http://search.ebay.com/playstation-3_Systems_W0QQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentry pageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfromZR10QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3 QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQsacatZ62054QQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZQ QsatitleZQ22playstationQ203Q22QQsbrsrtZd)

Holy crap, some of those actually have bids at $5000. People are freakin' insane.

I like games and all but anyone who is willing to pay $500 or more for a console has serious issues. When you can get a decent laptop for the price of the console man the laptop all the way.

WTF?!

The first one I looked at had a single bid of $5,000 and the reserve wasn't met yet!

I just put a piece of my shit on ebay for $5000. I figure if anyone is stupid enough to pay that much for a PS3, then selling a chunk of my man poop should be no problem.

For five thousand dollars, that must be some incredibly potent feces, Beldaran. I would endeavor to purchase this fecal matter from you, as I have no doubt in my mind that you would steer me wrong, considering that value = cost. I have seen street peddlers selling their various feces for considerably less; running roughly ten dollars a pound. I am glad to have waited to invest my hard earned money in your glorious feces.

Well, this marks the beginning of the PS3 era. People absolutely NEED the PS3 when it comes out and not a moment later. I've always wondered if it really feels that good to own something before everyone else, regardless of the price. Honestly, I can't help but feel a small amount of pity. =/

Did you hear ebay is actually taking down many of these PS3 auctions? Supposively they are taking them all down as they see them. Rumor is that ebay for some reason is stopping what 99.9% of PS3 pre-orders are for, which is resale for huge markup on ebay.

What better way to slap someone in the face then to make them keep the $600 piece of hardware they never wanted in the first place. Bwhahaha

If this (http://www.armageddongames.net/showthread.php?t=94042) is true then doesnt that mean all the auctions that say "Guarenteed PS3" aren't acutally guarenteed?

None of the PS3s are guarenteed. While they may have a number per store of what to expect, that is always subject to change. Serves everyone right for wanting a PS3 or trying to ebay it. I just hope the biggest loser in it all is Sony.

And that's why e-bay is removing the auctions. Though it would be damn funny for some dumbass to win a chance at getting a PS3 for $5000 and then have it fall through because the seller didn't actually get one.

Hmm... $5000 today, or $500 in a few months time.

1000% markup, that's good business. Sony should just sell them for $5000 until christmas, and make the profit themselves.

That's what I was saying. They should have outright held online auctions themselves. That would have been better than making this far too limited launch. How can you launch a system with only half a million consoles... That's just retarded. What would really kill Sony is if they have a problem getting their blue laser diodes at anytime early on. It would halt PS3 production. That is far more likely than either the RSX or Cell having production issues.
