Apparently atleast in japan the low end 20GB unit will have hdmi and will retail for less than previously announced.

Update: http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=10294 It seems price will remain the same here, but both will have HDMI.

According to gamespy's article on the keynote speech where these bits of information were released, people were falling asleep because Kutaragi was utterly boring. And aside from that information, there really wasn't much in the speech worth repeating, aside from small Kutaragi gems like "if wine is too expensive, switch to beer.", referring to the cost of the PS3. Apparently, he also compared gaming to Alzheimers or something like that. He's some kind of genius, I say.

Well, X360 announced a HD-DVD expansion, which together with the 360 is cheaper than the PS3.

Really, I don't see what the big deal is. The cheap version now supports high definition output? So what? Anyone who can afford a high def TV and a PS3 is probably going to drop the extra hundred bucks to get the more expensive version anyway. If someone can't justify the $500 price tag to begin with, the addition of high def output is not going to sway them.

Well I was worried about Sony there for a minute, but we are back to known territory, bad news. http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=10301

It seems the price drop is shown as a sign of weakness now or something. I'm sure the PS3 will be a decent system like I said, but their promises and hype have long since gone down the toilet. I guess it never occurred to them to be honest.

Sony has seems to dug a very deep hole, too deep that they can't get out of it at all which is very likely to be their grave. People said this about Nintendo but they somehow got out of it.

Well Sony does seem lately like it HAS started getting out of the hole. The problem is, they are no higher up that they were with PS2, which while it was high enough to beat the GC and Xbox, that was merely because Xbox and GC were that much worse. Sony hasn't changed at all other than ripped off Nintendo's ideas.
