Stone/Brick won'y move

Ok, I have gotten to the "tip of the nose" in Level 7, but the middle stone/brick won't budge. Why not? Isn't that the one that reveals the hidden stairway to where I can access the boss? What am I doing wrong?

And yes, that is the room where the hidden stairway is.

You can kill the hands??? With what weapon?

Just use the good-old sword. You can also use arrows, bombs, candle, and wand as well.

These hands are the same enemies you found in the room just south of the boss room in Level 1. Just make sure to dodge them or you get sent back to the beginning.
