In the Select Enemy dialog, there should be a dropdown box at the top that has these categories: All, Original, and New.
When the category "All" is selected, all enemies are available in the list.
When the category "Original" is selected, only enemies from the NES Legend of Zelda are shown in the list.
When the category "New" is selected, only newly added enemies are shown in the list.
This does not limit what enemies can be selected. It is for distinguishment purposes only.

What we have here is merely a dropdown box that filters which enemies are shown based upon the category.
Why do this? There's a lot of new enemies being added, and having the enemies categorized will save a lot of confusion for say, ZC newbies who want to know which enemies are new, or traditionalists who wish only to use NES Zelda enemies.
