Z3 Movement should also be learnable, like Slash. After all, Z3 Movement does give you a tactical advantage.

It doesn't make a whit of sense, though.

Abei: "Surprise! Now you've suddenly got a better movement engine!"
Link: "???"
Mimesis: *dies*

What was the point of Link learning better movement in OOT?

What was the point of Link learning better movement in OOT?
When? :odd:

Are you talking about the boots or something? Or the overall movement upgrade that comes with 3D games?

When? :odd:

The forward roll Link learned near his house pops to mind.

Couldn't he still do that before he spoke to someone? He wasn't actually acquiring a new ability; a character was explaining to the player how to activate it.

You may be right, I haven't had that game open in a few years and don't remember for sure.
How about learning to run in LTTP?
Was that the same deal.

I was thinking most of the Zelda's had learned behaviors.

Mostly I just replied because I thought questions was being rude towards Bigjoe who has a right to suggest whatever he will. ;)

G'haa! XD

Dance Lessons. So far, this is the most appealing post in this thread.

Of course, while you're at it, for completions' sake, why not have a "Hitbox size toggle" room to suddenly make Link thin enough to fit into those 16x8 crevices? :p

Epona? :D heh

Slash can be explained: Link knows how to slash, however the learn Slash feature tells him how to do it to deal more damage. Like, martial arts training. Anyone can kick, but you need to learn how to kick to do serious damage, you know?

Then again, learning Z3 can be explained by magic. Ganon placed a curse on Hyrule making everyone walk in four directions ONLY. Chaos ensues

I get what you're saying, Bigjoe, but it makes no sense whatsoever

It makes about as much sense as a sword shooting a beam.

ShadowTiger

That can probably explained by the magic of Hyrule channeling through Link's Pure (And unharmed. ;) ) essence, through his sword, and into .. .. .. well, wherever he so chooses to shoot it.

Where that bloody noise comes from, I'll never know.

Who cares if it makes sense? It opens up potential gameplay, so go for it.

Just say that Link's agility was increased or something. :p

Videogames don't need to make sense. That's why plumbers grow when they eat mushrooms.

in OOT link started with the ability to roll, jump and swim etc. in LTTP he learns to swim and to run etc. and in LA he uses magic to increase his mobility.

In LTTP Link obtains the Pegasus Boots, which increase his movement; He dosen't learn to run. There is no magic in LA aside from the powder and rod, plus Link uses said Pegasus Boots to run

he must learn how to put them on.... (LA stand for links adventure... not awakening)

Then use AoL or Z2, since, the subtitle was in fact "The Adventure of Link" and not "Link's Adventure". The latter just seems to lack that epic feel.

are you sure? maybe in different regions its called "the adventure of link" im from australia.... if not then i apolagise for my bad abbreviation.

I'm not sure about Australia's localization process, but that is one of the biggest mistakes I see people make when they refer to the Zelda titles.

On a side note, AoL DID have an instance of a learnable technique, the downward stab.

Tygore's right, I have it here in my hand.
It says:

ZELDA II
The Adventure of Link

;)

My least favorite Zelda Game, hurts my fingers. ;)
