Who here would be interested in an AGN No Limit Texas Hold 'em tournament?

Drop any ideas and let me know if you're interested in this thread.

I may have to knock up something for the winner's postbit as an incentive for winning.

I'm game.

I don't know how to play poker.

Any if anyone makes fun of me, I'll stab you.

So I'll wear a low cut top and be a cheerleader for Glitch, cause he's my homeboy.

I'll give it a try.

I will play, depending on the time and format.

I may be interested, but it depends on the time and format like Beldaran said. I wouldn't want to play for money though, only for fun.

I'll do it.

And mooie, I'll make sure glitch wins if you sit on my lap.

It will most likely be a free tournament, with some sort of forum based incentive (i'm thinking a trophy in the postbit, like the arcade reward.) Setting up a cash game would be difficult, as it would limit the players, either by people not wanting to pay a buyin, or not having a way to transfer the buyin to me. The format will be No Limit Texas Hold 'em, with a starting stack of, lets say, $1500. The rounds(blind structure) will be determined when we get a final head count. If there are more players, the rounds will be longer. It will be a pre-registration tournament, and if there is money involved, it will most likely be no rebuys/addons. Thats what i'm trying to find out here, Beldaran and Vegeta, let me know what sort of structure you would like, and i'll work towards something that will make everyone happy. The date, once again, is one of those things.

If anyone knows a good server based poker program, can you let me know so i can try it out?

Of course I'm in, but I work some funky hours. The further out its planned the easier it'll be for me to nail down the time.

Goki, I have used pokerstars.net before and it's not bad. Check it out and see if that would work for you.

Pokerstars won't work for one reason. We'd all be scrambling for the table before someone else joined. I need a program that one of us can host, and we can connect to a private table via IP address.

Check Partypoker.net and FullTilt Poker.

Oh I thought pokerstars had a private room feature. It's been a while since I was on there.

This is a great idea, I would love to play.

My preferred structure for a $1500 tourney is $25/$50 blinds, doubling every 30 minutes, with no rebuys. Of couse since we're not playing for real cash I'm willing to play almost everything.

I'm down. It would probably be best to do it on a night in the states, as less people would be working.

Well, I work from 9am - 5pm USA Pacific Time, monday through friday. I am willing to play anytime after that as long as I don't have to stay up past midnight on a weeknight.

So basically any time at all on a friday or saturday is fine, as long as it's not something rediculous like it starts at 2:30am pacific time. :)

I'm in.
And I believe PokerRoom.com supports free custom tourneys, if not, you can e-mail and get one I think.
I would suggest a friday night.

Hey Guys! Im sorry I haven't been here in a while. I have been working 12 hour shifts 6 days a week so I won't be able to play this time. After this summer I won't be working so much so if this works out maybe we can do one in the fall. If so I'm game. We could also alternate between poker game types.

I just thought of something.

How about offering a free premium membership to the winner if they don't already have one for a year or even 6 months.

I'm going to be running the tournament this Friday night. I'd like to take the opportunity to add a poll to the thread to get the idea of which time would best suit you guys.

I'll have the software we'll be using announced in this thread by probably Tuesday night.

I would venture 7 pm US eastern.

I'm still trying to find a program or online poker program to host this table. Pokerroom.com only hosts money SNGs.

How about bodog?
I will do it if we don't do it for money, only for fun.
I will try to see you there. If I don't then too bad for me.

Yeah I gotta agree on the play money tournament.

I have no problem whatsoever with playing poker for money, in fact I'm fairly good at it. Money's just been really tight lately and I'm just not comfortable with money games right now.

I also think play money would attract a wider swath of an AGN gathering.

goKi
07-25-2006, 10:47 PM
It was always going to be play money, reason being that the attendance would be very low if it was a cash game.

I'd definitely be down for a poker game, whenever. 7 or 8 would be great.

As for what happened with pokerroom.com, these sites also have non-gambling counterparts such as pokerroom.net. Have you tried those?
