What does the Amulet/Cross do in the game?

I think it shows invisible enemies.
Good for a level 8 or 9!:D

Yes the Cross shows invisible enemies. It is designated as "amulet 1" on the item list in Zquest.

Thanks. Just wondered. This way if I put it in one of my games I know what it does. What's the difference between the two versions? What does the upgraded Amulet do that's different compared to the regular one?

Nothing. The first version of the amulet is the only one that works in the current versions. Don't bother with the level 2 amulet just yet.

Actually when Zelda Classic was originally made the plan was to have two levels of the cross, coinciding with two classes of invisible enemies. One class was caped enemies. You couldn't see the actual enemy, but you could see cape-like things and where they were going.

The second class was "truly invisible" meaning that you would enter the screen thinking that nothing was there only to be hit by enemies--similar to those flying ghosts in Old Kasuto in Zelda 2. ZC developers wanted to make it so that you could see caped enemies with amulet 1 but not invisible enemies and with amulet 2, you could see caped and invisible enemies.

Unfortunately, they could not get all that to work, so for now, amulet 2 does not do anything. But one quick question: Will it work in the full-fledged version of 2.11?

I don't think they're planning on it. Last I read, they were still leaving that one go.

While I'm at it.

What's the difference between the Short Bow and the Long Bow?

The short bow shoots like a normal bow. A slow shot across the screen. The long bow shoots faster. A fast shot across the screen. You can barely see it.
