So yea I stand here before you once an expert now feelin like a newb, but with better posting abilities then when I started =) either way I have recently dusted off my quest and wanna continue working on it ...Only issue is it was being made and last saved under 1.9 ...Now I know DN has made a horde of changes ...is this gonna go over well when I bring it into the new build or is there anything that changed that much to corrupt or otherwise trick it out.

Thanks

Yes that's possible but there are a few warnings

1. No version after 1.90 is perfectly stable
2. If tranferring to 2.10 (latest non-beta version) make sure BS-Animation is set correctly or it'll stick like that.
3. In 2.11 BS-Animation is set from the Link Tiles menu.
4. There's an annoying MIDI bug in 2.10. You'll know it when you hear it.
5. In any 1.92 beta do not abuse the view map feature or ZC will crash.

There are other things but that's major things to watch for.

so 1.9 is still pretty much the standard or is it 2.10?

Unless you seriously use 100% of ZQuest, (And I DO MEAN, one hundred percent of it.) you probably won't find all that many errors. I think it's fairly safe to bump your quest up to 2.11 (AFTER MAKING A BACKUP!!) so you can toy with the newest features. Among the best new features are multiple Tile Warps and side warps. ;-D you'll looove those, Cronic. Absolutely love 'em. I still remember the Metal Gear Solid style quest you were making in the Newfirst set Modified. So amazing.

heh is there a demo up for that anywhere?

It's prolly best I took time away cause now i've totally redefined what i was going for into something i can actually achieve ;)

Do you mean version 2.11? Yeah, you can get ZC and ZQuest right here (http://www.armageddongames.net/showthread.php?t=90670). The new features in 2.11 are quite spiffy, if I do say so myself. (It's been awhile since I've used the word "spiffy.")

I wouldent Jump right up to 2.11. I've had trouble editing tiles in the "2" versions. 2.10 doesent Import tiles, and 2.11 seems to crash when I try to "grab" tiles. So Im doing my Tile editing in 1.92 with the intent of jumping up to 2.11 later.

Hello, Cronic.
If you want to use 2.11, use 10b. 10a is nice, but the latter has more bugfixes.

There isn't really a standard. People generally use the version of ZC that is most suited to their needs. If you browse the Quest DB at zeldaclassic.com you will see that there are many versions of ZC in use.

These, however, are the most commonly used versions of ZC.

1.9 (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/downloads.php#zc) - One of the oldest, but most stable versions. Good for an old fashioned quest. No Windows port.

1.92 Beta 183 (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/downloads.php#zc) - A number of new features since 1.9. Windows port available. Still in use by some for its comparative stability.

2.10 (http://zeldaclassic.armageddongames.net/downloads.php#zc) - Latest public release. Has a number of new features and a new interface, but is also considered to be unstable by some.

2.11 Beta 10/10b (http://www.armageddongames.net/showthread.php?t=90670) - The latest beta available of Zelda Classic. Hordes of new features, but not gauranteed to be without bugs.

NOTE: I dont think the Quest DB accepts quests made with 2.11 betas.

All of these versions are available for download, as beta testing is now public.

As for the new tricks, you'll have to consult someone more versed.
