I did a quick search and didn't see a thread like this existing on GGD. I'm curious (as we have a huge nintendo fanbase, not so much known PS or Xbox) how many members have bought a 360 or plan to get one. I bought one Sunday (yesterday). I ended up spending about 600$ to get the Premium Xbox 360 pack (includes HDD, as well as Wireless Controller and other things), and 2 games. Perfect Dark Zero and Tomb Raider Legend. Sadly though after checking ebay I could have gotten PDZ for ALOT less. Looks like I could have saved about 20-25$ on PDZ, but then again I didn't wanna wait for shit in the mail. Oh and I also got a 2 year replacement plan dealy. All of that with tax and such added up to about 600$. I'd hate to see what it'd end up costing for PS3 on launch.

I decided to go get one after seeing enough titles on the way that I was interested in, that and I had the money to spend on something fun. One game I'm particularly interested in is Capcom's Dead Rising. It's a Zombie game and a take off of Dawn of the Dead. And it is to come out in August. And if a Ninja Gaiden game comes along for it that certainly wouldn't hurt. I might even be interested in Xbox Live for PD Zero.

And I suppose if I ever get an HDTV it'll look sharper, however for now I've ordered a VGA cable that should do just as well with my PC monitor. I ordered it online cause once again in the store they royally screw you. 40$ + tax for a VGA cable... Online with shipping I am getting the same thing for 18$. Like I mentioned before I could have gotten PDZero alot cheaper too.

So who else has a 360 or is interested in getting one? Any good games I may not know about but might want to try? Anyone here use Xbox Live to play online?

And does anyone know what the deal with Xbox Live Gold is? I heard something like the premium system has a month of Xbox Live Gold free or something. Does it?

I see you decided to go ahead and get the 360. I tried to PM you back after butchering the responce to your first PM but your box was full.
When I got my system it came with a year of XBox Live, but that was because I bought the special developer bundle. I think I saw something when I was activating my live account about 'you are eligable to try live for free' or something like that, so there may very well be a one-month free sample. At the very least you could go sign up and see if they give you the offer. I would recommend the service either way, it's lots of fun. And pick up a used copy of Halo2 while you're at it. Well worth the money.

I currently have 6 games for the 360: Dead or Alive 4, Kameo, MLB 2K6, NBA 2K6, Elder Scrolls IV, and PGR3. I can't really say I'd recommend DOA, you have to spend too much time learning the characters and their moves in order to be able to counter effectively, which makes the game not much fun to play. Kameo is fun for what it is, but it is quite short. PGR3 is a great racing game that I played quite a bit, though not as much lately. It's online component is pretty solid. And of course it's fun to cruise down the Vegas strip and see all the casinos.

If you get on live, send a friend request to Da Phire and we can get some games going.

edit:
I did a quick search, and it seems that when you sign-up for the silver membership (lets you go onto their service but you can't play any games), they give you 1 free month of gold.

I am thinking about getting an Xbox 360 this fall when the price will most liekly drop as the PS3 will launch.

You also get one free month of silver, regardless. I don't play online that often, but I used to to download a few demos.

Actually, It seems silver is always free. ofcourse silver means you can only get free non-premium content unless you pay for it and more importantly you can't play online. Last night I signed up and just did silver since I didn't feel like entering any payment info that late at night. It told me you're eligable for this offer: 1 free month of xbox live gold. So I got my Perfect Dark Zero out and played that a bit. Even put on the headset.

I don't have any of those games you mentioned yet Cloral. ;) You need to get Perfect Dark Zero, it's like 25$ or less on ebay it seems. I think that would be fun to play with someone other than a bunch of strangers that have no team work at all. I might get that PGR3 if I try it out and like it. I bet there's a demo I can download through live for it. Although BurnOut Revenge online sounds even sweeter.

The Halo 2 I might consider getting one used but I can't say I liked Halo all that much. DOA4 was an option but seeing as how DOA1 and DOA2 were so tough to play I passed on that. Hopefully Tecmo will make a Ninja Gaiden title for 360. ;)

Lone Wolf, I know what you mean man. It is pretty pricey but I was pretty bored and had the cash so I went for it. This fall (August 20 something) Dead Rising comes out too. =)

Orion, so do you have Gold? If so what games do you have to play? Obviously I'm looking for anyone with PDZ.

Oh ya, I bought a VGA cable to use with my PC LCD off ebay for like 18$ shipped where as in a store it would have cost 40$ + tax.

My friend who lives in SB has PDZ and I doubt he plays it much anymore. So next time I see him I'll see if he'll let me borrow it for a while. He does owe me since I let him borrow Kameo for over a month.

I honestly don't think I'll be purchasing any new consoles anymore. I really want to play Metal Gear Solid 4 when it comes out, and some of the Nintendo games look cool, but I have no other interest beyond that. My computer plays Oblivion, so it'll tide me over for awhile. I think I might be drifting away from the video game scene. Its sad, but nothing really interests me anymore beyond the franchises I've already played for years. There is no way that I'm going to pay well over 400 dollars on something thats just going to sit and collect dust when I have bills to pay and movies to see.

It certainly won't just sit if you get into playing on Xbox Live. It's very addictive.

I just bought Full Auto for X360. It was only 30$ new. If anyone has that and would like to play on XBLive or has PDZ let me know.

And Cloral let me know when you get PDZ.

World Soccer Winning Eleven 9 is real tight for the Xbox, and will play on the 360; The online features are great and it's probably the best sports game out there.

I don't really like sports games myself unless they have an unreal twist. If it's aimed at being realistic I lose interest fast. However things like Super Mario Baseball are amusing. Or racing games where you also have the goal of destroying fellow racers.

Damn, I forgot to pick up PDZ when I was up there yesterday. I did add Table Tennis to my 360 collection over the weekend though. It's a lot more fun than it sounds.

I got the PDZ Map Pack today and it's awesome. Easily one of the coolest things about XBox Live is buying new content!
