It fixes... something with what you see when Link picks up the bombs (not grabs them, I mean when he holds them above his head). If you want to know what it is, read the help readme in ZQuest. Just go the the etc. menu and click on Help. That answers a lot of questions from new people, and raises so many others, including some that tell you the answer, but remain cryptic...

In the original game regular bombs weren't held up when you got them as an item, I believe it may fix that, but I'm not sure.

I works to fix the hold the bombs item over links head(only bombs) because normally you get the sound of picking them up even when the bomb is a special item or when you use the hold up item on the screen options, without actually holing them over his head.
That rule allows you to hold them over his head like a triforce or other special item.
