View Full Version : Want to run AG?

War Lord

I no longer have the time to effectively run the site, and am willing to admit that.
I am looking for some to fullfull the following duties here at AG:

Create a main webpage
Find new projects
Promote the site
Actively administer the forums

Pretty much run the whole thing. Very good web skills are going to be a must.
If you're interested send me a private message with a short paragraph or two as to why you will be able to fullfill such a position. Examples of your work would be nice.

It's late/early, I'm tired, that is all.

I'm not interested, but I just want to say good luck in whatever you do - you were one of the really good guys!

I nominate Breaker.

I nominate Breaker.

As crazy as that sounds, I second that.

Running the entire site would be too much for me but I could help administrate the forums or whatnot. Graphics, promotion..simpler stuff like that.

Good luck though, J-Rod. <3

I wish I could administrate a forum, but nobody would trust me as even a moderator at any big forum. I'm too average-user. But I think someone like BH4 should get the job.

I say zelda64gld.

Seriously, though, good luck, War Lord.

Take it, Breaker.

Is the Vbulletin ACP like the IBP admin CP? I'm good at that.

ZTC
04-29-2006, 04:39 PM
well, you can click here to try a "demo" of an admin cp (http://www.vbulletin.com/admindemo.php)

Siguy

Its almost exactly the same as the IBP ACP. I definately could take the job, but I doubt I would get it so I'm not really going to try for it.

I'd ask for the job if I weren't stressed as it is. : \

I think Breaker would be a good choice as well. In any case, what happened to Shadowblazer? Busy with his job, or other real life matters..?

How about Glenn the Great?

Okay, joking aside, I hope it goes well. I don't want to see AGN fall, it's been through too much for it to fall into the hands of incompetance. I'd nominate myself, but I suck at moderation, I can't code worth beans, and my advertising skills couldn't sell a gun to a redneck.

goKi
04-29-2006, 10:31 PM
Most of the admins are busy with personal life. I think that's what bought on this decision. I'd nominate myself to take over AGN, but i can't code anything beyond a flashy HTML webpage.

Solaris_Omega

I can code, and so can DN. I have even run a site before.

ShadowTiger

I'd go with Breaker as well. I haven't seen his code, but I know that he's excellent with all things internet and technology. I'd very easily place my faith in him.

IMHO though, it couldn't hurt to have a few more public representations staff; someone or some people who would be "the people to PM" in case people are having trouble with anything. Having only one person to whom all the PM's go could easily get burdensome, I'll bet. (I know from experience. Ugh... ) Eckels and SB have the technical know-how, but have their lives to deal with, so aren't always around for those interesting times when a codewizard's duties are required. ( Remember of course, that Life > Internet.) ... ... Eh, on second thought, I guess things are pretty much cool as it is. I mean, the ZC Site issue was handled, so nothing is stuck in the mud.

Yeah, I agree that Breaker is your best bet.

I think Goki would be a great choice.

I'd nominate myself, but I don't have the time either. Or the bandwidth, since I live in the middle of nowhere.

Eckels is the only one I know for sure would be qualified to do it, but I'll wager he doesn't have time either. *sigh*

I fail :(

I wouldn't nominate Breaker unless he nominates himself first.

Personally I think it would be best to split up the work load among 2 or 3 people so one person doesn't have to be relied on to do everything, and one person doesn't have all the pressure of trying to make everyone happy.

I would suggest SB if he weren't so busy as well.

You may think of me as a noob, but I have seen the work of them, and I nominate Breaker and Goki.

Personally I think it would be best to split up the work load among 2 or 3 people so one person doesn't have to be relied on to do everything, and one person doesn't have all the pressure of trying to make everyone happy.I've been waiting for someone to say this so I didn't have to say it first. :p I sincerely think this would be a great idea though. There's nothing wrong with having multiple people to take up the word, particularly if they're active. Like I'd mentioned earlier, [Note: All conditions assume that you're active!] if one of the owners feels too pressured, the others can pick up a little bit of the slack. One person can handle interpersonal affairs, one person can code, (Assumably, -can- code worth crap, ... so the saying goes, anyway ... )

I think it'd be nice to have someone that you can always PM without fear of being chastized. I think it'd be nice to have someone who's active, friendly, and encourages posting in a happy and productive way up there. A forum role model, as it were. goKi is pretty good at that right now, I think. o.o Vegeta1215 similarly, in fact, along with most of the mods here, when they show up.

Haha, I said Breaker... because I thought all the n00bs would cry.

I was thinking the same thing. Frankly, I'm surprised people suggested him. No offense (to Breaker), but his reputation does precede him. Regardless, he hasn't been that active much lately.

Honestly, I agree with the multiple parties. I think that Breaker or goKi would be awesome obvious choices. Must they have ALL of the qualities you mentioned, or can they find a reliable support staff? goKi would be my number one for forum matters, since he is typically more active on the board.

Ill support who ever gets the spot or spots to run AGN. Good luck to the lucky SOB's ;)

He's certainly capable, but I don't think he's interested.

I agree, I think he's capable too. He's just never around anymore, he has that whole life thing, I dunno.

I would have to nonminate goki. He's been quite active as of late. My first choice would have been breaker, but moocow is correct, he isn't that active anymore, or at least lately.

goKi

I'd hardly call myself particularly active, i guess in comparison to other staff members, yes. Although i've been nominated/referred, it's not a vote. It's up to Jarrod entirely.

Don't think so.

I have a knowledge of html but nothing to brag about and I really doubt that I could run a forum let alone run it without making it crash.

I would nominate myself, but I'm rarely on AGN anymore since the anime forum for the Cronic posts died. Plus I have a life, wife and 1 year old son that I have to take care of, I'm in college working for a Bachelor in Game and Simulation Programming, and I am currently working on my own site with MySQL/PHP for several things (my game company, comic book site, novel site, etc).

That is of course if other people do all the work since I know little of it. :D
