A link would be nice. Also, it's Wikipedia.

I'd suggest gamefaqs for glitches and cheats, though.

Old news to me. And hell, I was using Game Genie (not game shark) to catch Mew and other pokemon back when I actually played pokemon, which was when there were only 2 versions Red and Blue. It was a decent RPG but I didn't have any interest in slightly different versions that they churned out one after the other.

Gold/Silver was a great update to the original Pokemon formula, adding a lot of new features, including my favorite feature - the internal clock & timed events. Since then, I haven't seen much reason for picking up Pokemon.

I performed some kind of glitch in Pokemon Red, and as a result my hall of fame is screwed up. Otherwise, the only things I've done is use a Gameshark to get Mew and Celebi, as well as to get all the room decorations for Pokemon Gold. Oh, and to make my Pokemon evolve through "Happiness" evolutions, which takes forever to do on your own.

He he, yeah. Pokemon glitches were awesome. I remember every one was saying it was impossible to get Mew with out a game shark or game genie. But then I managed to catch Mew and traded him over to my Gold Version.
lol, I remember all the different techniques people tried to get Mew. Some of them seemed like they might work, I tried all of them but no.

I agree, Gold/Silver were the best versions of all. I'm surprised they didn't bring back the night/day element in Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Nintendo said that Mew was a fake rumor, obviously not, I caught it, traded it and cloned it, also, I got some Lvl255 'Ms and MissingNos and some other weird glitches that looked like Missingno, some Lvl180 Kabutops and Aerodactyl fossils (missingnos) and one missingno that messed up my game (I think it was "a", or "4. ." I can't remember), I also went to glitch city. :googly:

Mew was a secret of Nintendo's that kept gamers playing pokemon desperately searching. It was a good ploy.

Mew was only available via special Nintendo promotions. He was not catchable, no matter how many gay rumors surfaced saying he was.

I was just reading the exact same wikipedia article right before I found this thread.

This isn't a glitch, but does anyone else remember changing red/blue's tint at the game boy logo? That was fun.

Uh, yes he is, via a glitch. It is proved and I've even done it myself before as I recall. There were tons of bogus ways to get Mew, but there is a glitch that is solid and works. However it is true, you cannot "normally" catch him because there are no areas in the game where he appears wildly or as a specific npc like MewTwo or Zapodos.

I think this is the one you're talking about: http://pokedex.kary.ca/catchmew.shtml - I read about this glitch a long time ago, but never gave it a try. Sounds legit, especially if you read the page that explains how it works.

For the non-believers:

Mew proof 1 (I used a Gameshark, but I didn't used it for catching Mew)

Mew proof 2 (Yes, my name is XXXXYYY, I use this name to make MissingNo a Kabutops and an Aerodactyl fossil)

Mew proof 3 (Pokédex data)

Mew proof 4 (Pokédex data)

And finally, a Glitch City snapshot, cool.

We believed you that Mew was in the game, but aside from Nintendo giveaways there is no way to get Mew without cheating or using a glitch. Speaking of Pokemon, I popped in my Pokemon Gold a few minutes ago and got a "Save file corrupted" error - I guess the internal battery finally died. All my hard work (getting 249 Pokemon)...gone

meh, Haven't played the game in ages.

But I will always have fond memories of catching missingno, using him to duplicate items, and all the other stuff. ^_^

Once in a while I MIGHT whip out the N64 game, and try to win mew in the gym castle, but No luck so far. (I saw my friend do it once, I was SO jealous [I was 12 at the time, and incredibly hyped over this stuff] )

And I agree, Gold/silver was the best. But Red/blue stil kicked ass.

Lol...My elementary school...the hype this franchise had there...you have no idea...good times...good times...

[edit] ALRIGHT!!! 333 posts! (throws a party!)

Are you talking about Pokemon Stadium? The only Pokemon you can win by going through the castle are the three starter Pokemon from Red/Blue/Yellow (Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur), Eevee, Kabuto, and Omanyte. This is more valuable that Mew imo, because R/B/Y you only get one of the starter Pokemon, one Eevee, and one of the two fossil Pokemon - and you'd be hard pressed you find someone willing to give you the ones you're missing.

That also happened to me, I replaced it but my save files were erased... My game was corrupted because I caught MissingNo so there was almost (149 pokemon, including Mew) nothing to lose.

You can RENT Mew in round 2 mode - whether or not this checks Mew off in your Pokedex, I don't know. But, you cannot bring it back into the Gameboy game with you. Similarly, you can rent Mew or Celebi in Pokemon Stadium 2.

He won it as a prize for beating the elite 4 in round 2 mode. I remember that clearly. I imagine the odds on that are pretty scarce though...

So you think you guys are good at Pokemon battles?

Pokemon Netbattle (http://www.tvsian.com/netbattle/)

This recreates, bug for bug, the battle systems of all three generaitons of Pokemon.
