Not had enough Wind Waker?
Here's more for you...

If I had a DS I'd probably be a lot more interested in this. At least it looks interesting, and they seem to be combining three dimensional models in the classic overhead perspective, and the modern viewpoints.

Thought I'd change the thread title so we can talk about all things GDC.

I was pretty excited to hear about a cel shaded Zelda coming to the DS. Maybe Aonuma heard my sighs after the unveiling of the realistic Twilight Princess? Another thing that surprised me was the annoncement that you will be able to play Sega Genesis and Turbo Grfx games on the Revolution: http://revolution.ign.com/articles/697/697882p1.html :D

A 3D zelda using the old overhead view?

Sign me up!

And also, something else that Iwata mentioned was that the Revolution would also feature Genesis games. I know that will make more than a few people happy.

EDIT: Changed the thread title again to bait Nintendo fanatics and satisfy GDC talk as well.

Genesis and TurboGrafx games?

Man, Nintendo's got a death grip on the 90's. Nobody's gonna be able to beat that.

I was hoping like hell Nintendo re-used the Wind Waker style in a Zelda, and i saw my last hope as the DS. This is very exciting news. :)

I wouldn't hold my breath. I know they said that, but I don't think the odds of them following through are very high. The game looks far along, but it didn't look to have much spit and polish yet, and I think it would be a really stupid thing to have the DS Zelda competing against Zelda:TP and the Revolution launch.

I actually thought exactly that. But i still think that Nintendo have got something up their sleeve, and may end up pushing the Revolution's launch date ahead a month to beat Sony to the market. Maybe then this game could come out for christmas.

I'd been wishing they'd do this since OoT.

Seriously... 3D systems are ruining classic platforming and overhead style gaming... I'd love to see the two together.

Indeed, but whenever it comes out, between that and the new SMB, my DS is going to be glued to my hands for awhile.

(random note, if you haven't played Tetris DS yet, pick it up!)

Yeah, it does, but you have to reach Level 20 in single player mode.

Mario and Zelda for DS both look promising. It's fairly obvious that Mario's going back to his roots, but so has Zelda, as if Wind Waker didn't have enough of a LttP vibe. Nostalgic.
