View Full Version : Item Drop Rate Setting

Basically, this would be a per-dMap setting that allows you to set the chance that enemies/slash combos, etc. give you items. For example, a setting of 100% would be the current drop rates, while 50% would halve the drop rate, etc. Useful if you don't want so many hearts and magic jars dropping from enemies, or if you want a lot of them for harder areas.

Nice idea.
Imagine an arena where you're fighting hard enemies, the drop rate is set to 0%, and you only have 1/4 a heart left. Oh, the possibillities.

Actually, the current setting would be something below 100%, as 100% would cause an item to ALWAYS drop. But still, I like this idea.

After thinking about it, I guess it would work out better that way. Less confusion.

EDIT: The only problem is that setting it this way might break the original NES drop rates if there isn't some kind of rule for using this new setting.

No, no problem at all. Default would simply be lower than 100%. It'd be whatever it is now, actually, just in percentage form, rather than decimal.
