Has anyone heard if this will ever see an english release? From the looks on the gamefaqs release list, there may not be an english release. I really hope there is. I played around with it briefly, but there's no way I could play through it with that much text ofcourse. It'd be a shame in this day and age for it to miss an english release.

I haven't heard much about it either. Nintendo Power has it listed in their upcoming games list though, so that makes me hopeful. I would be pretty upset if it didn't come here. (btw, I am still tweaked that we didn't get Magical Vacation here despite NP's three page import preview of the game)

What system was that for? N64DD?

GBA. It was an RPG made by Brownie Brown that featured hand drawn environments and a grid-like battle system.

I guess based on what I've heard, I'm not too excited about Children of Mana. I've heard it's more of a SoM-themed dungeon crawler, sorta in the vain of Legend of Mana (which was a good game, but I just couldn't get into it). I have heard nothing of a US release though.

The impression I got from a review I read was that it looked like Legend of Mana, but played and felt like Secret of Mana. Is that about right?
If it's more freeform like Legend, I'll have to get it.

I remember that article on Magic Vacation. I thought it mentioned that Brownie Brown was mostly made up of people who worked on SD3?

I read Gamespy's import preview the other day and now I'm not as excited :( It seems it's not going to be like the previous Mana games. I'm sure it will still be fun though. http://gba.gamespy.com/nintendo-ds/mana-sequel/693759p1.html

Honestly everything I've seen makes it look exactly like Secret of Mana, which is a good thing. I have a feeling it may be a direct sequel (in the timeline) to that game. It should be pretty damn good.

Incidentally, Brownie Brown, the original creators of the Seiken Densetsu series, left Square at the time Legend of Mana came out. That is why the game sucked so incredibly much. They rejoined to make Sword of Mana (which was pretty decent, if a bit buggy). And they should be working on this and the PS2 title as well. So it should be pretty good.

You know what, I take it back. The Gamespy article made it sound like the whole game took place in dungeons (and you didn't get to travel around much), but the screenshots of the game say otherwise. :)

Toastyfrog has a preview of Children of Mana on 1up.com along with video. Looks really good, thought the reflecting shield to bounce back projectiles was good.

It's also a 4 player game, so the dungeon exploration makes sense to make it work. I remember reading somewhere that the developer of Children of Mana was chosen by Square Enix because they seemed very serious about their understanding of the source material to make a Mana game.

Brownie Brown is suppose to be working on SD4.

Also check out Square Enix's World of Mana site for trailers for Children of Mana (DS) and Seiken Densetsu 4 (PS2)

I believe I heard Brownie Brown is working on a sequel to Magical Vacation for DS.

I just finished watching the video from 1up, and it does look like it will play very differently from older Mana games. Whether thats good or bad, I don't know. I will say that everything looks fantastic.

Holy crap, on the Square-Enix JP site, under Trailer, click the thumbnail of the Mana tree with the title in front of it (fifth one). That is just bad-ass.

The trailer reminds me of the anime FMV intro in the game. I only wish I could read japanese to play the game. ;p
