I have been waiting years for this event; the new Elder Scrolls game comes out today. My fiance (and she is right) won't let me get an xbox 360 due to $$. My PC flat out sucks for gaming. There is no hope in sight. I can't believe that I am not going to get to play this game. It is sucking the life out of me, anticipating it! Anyone else eagerly awaiting it; and/or getting it?

Trade your fiance for cash and buy the xbox 360.

I preordered this for the 360 when it was still listed as a launch title. I'm glad it's finally going to be arriving.

I'll probably get it for my PC.

AMD Athlon X2 3800+
1024MB RAM
256MB GeForce 7800GT.

Yeah, I want it really fucking bad, but I won't have hardware to support it until it probably costs 10 dollars in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart, and I still have never seen an XBOX 360 for sale anywhere, not that I'd spend all the money to buy it anyway.

I have around the same requirements as Goki, so I think I should be all right.

I'm watching the 12 straight hours of Oblivion on Gamespot right now and all I have to say is wow...

Holy shit I've been waiting for this for a while, but I didn't know it was coming out now. I don't know if I'll get it now or not, but that's based purely on financial concerns.

Well, its official, apparantly an "xbox360" was/is going to be a surprise for my bachelor party gift. Of course, this still means waiting another 2 months, but I'll do anything for Oblivion.

Also, check out gamespot, they have a highlight video of last night's 12-hour marathon.

I ended up getting this. Granted, I hated Morrowind, but Oblivion, in stark contrast, is kicking major amounts of ass so far. I can't even contain the awesome to one charactor, I have two running concurrently, an Assasin who will fuck you up from the dark corner you didn't happen to check closely enough, and a Sorcerer who lives, breathes and snorts magic.

The story kicks ass, and finding a piece of clothing worth 2,000 gold in a random cave is nice too I suppose.

AMD Sempron 3000+
1 gig ram
256 mb Geforce 4 FX video card

Think it will run this?

AMD Sempron 3000+

....Um, that's slightly ambiguous. If you mean "Geforce FX", then yes, it will run, but slowly. If you mean "Geforce 4", or more probably "Geforce 4 MX", then no, it will not run because those cards either don't support Pixel Shaders or only support Pixel Shader 1.0

If you want a decent card that will run this and last you a good while, while being a great deal at the same time pick up an EVGA Geforce 6600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130220). It supports Pixel Shader 3.0, so you can use HDR, and as long as you are fine with running with medium texture detail (due to the 128 MB of texture memory), it's a great deal for the money. If you insist on getting an ATI, read the article for a solid recomendation, but I am admitedly a bit of an nvidia fanboy, so heh.

EDIT: Hrm, friend of mine tested his 6600GT on Oblivion and it ran fine with High Texture memory. Go for it, man.

Well my fiance surprised me on Sunday morning with an XBox360 and Oblivion. She went to EB while I was sleeping and picked it up. Apparantly she had been planning for months.

Anyways, I have been in gaming glee the last two days. It exceeds all my expectations! Anyone with either a 360 or a fast enough PC needs to obtain this game at once. I can't believe she surprised me with it! She WILL get naughty rewards from me for months!

If anyone is looking for a 360, I've seen a ton of them in stock at stores now. It seems they've shipped a few more. I just got this game, and it's alright, very beautiful. But not as great as everyone was telling me. That's just because I'm not a big fan of the open, do whatever you like, walk a half hour doing nothing but leveling up games. I'm a little impatient :)

well, just spend 180 bucks on a new video card. Its coming in the mail, hopefully that'll be enough to push my 'near outdated' machine up enough to run it.

Which video card did you go for?

Depending on your video card, you may get over the line. I'm unsure of how a Sempron handles some of the newer games. I'm kind of disappointed that i bought my video card a few months ago (7800GT), it's brilliant, but it's left to be seen how DX10 cards will be priced, and how they will perform with Windows Vista.

I'm actually yet to play oblivion, not sure if i want to buy it before having a play for free somewhere, since Morrowind didn't keep me for too long.

That should easily run the game fine.
