Friday I got the wiring of the Power Supply, Sound, and Video done quite easily. But today, Saturday, I went and bought a good piece of 1/2 inch think wood and spent hours working on the controllers with my dad. They turned out excellent. It's really amazing that it turned out so well and in not that much time. I'm thinking about painting the controllers black. I'll also add connectors to it so the controllers can be detached. And ofcourse I'll have the controller wires insulated/protected better then. I've gotta build a main console box too to house certain wiring, power supply, video chip, and ofcourse controller ports and some buttons that don't belong on controllers.

For those that may not know quite what this is, it's a setup to play Arcade Hardware without an Arcade Cabinet. That's the actual arcade version of Street Fighter II' Champ Edition running. =)

Controller painted black with cable and all that goodness. Still haven't replaced the start button with a white start button yet. That'll be today as well as wiring the 2nd controller perhaps.

Simply incredible. Hell, I'm thinking of making my own arcade setup, but I don't have any idea where to start. Are there any guides to even start one available?

This site should help you with just about everything. You will need to be capable with basic electrical work and carpentry skills though. Though you could get away with just some electronic skills if you murder a console controller and solder directly to it rather than making a real arcade controller.

I still have to make a main unit box to house all the components and I may do that soon. If you decide to build one and have any questions just ask me. Also, you should be prepared to spend atleast 150$ on the project. You'll probably spend more depending on what all you do and what you buy. And that excludes buying actual game boards.

It's not a cheap hobby but it's certainly a fun one. I was just playing King of Fighters 99' on my NeoGeo board today.
