View Full Version : Question about Quests (Not that kind of quest, numbnuts)

Okay, so I'm bored and I decide to enter random words into Google and see what comes up. Lots of fun later (try searching for Gadzooks) and I somehow stumble across one of those forum quest thingies and it got me reminising about one I used to do on another forum.

For the uninformed (all 3 of you), a forum quest is basically a story that everyone adds to. I would write a bit, then the next person to post would write a bit more and so on until it'sa about a 100 pages long and no-one can remember how it started. I remember having fun with the one I was in (which has long gone, sadly), and so wondered if I should start one.

So here's the question. If I started a forum quest, would you join in?

Answers on a postcard, please.

Quests? You want the forum called zelda ... oh, wait.

Yes I'd join in. As you might have seen :) I am quite active in forum games.

EDIT: I've seen at least two "I hope forum games becomes more active" posts there recently. This might be just the thing.

Hells yeah. Start a new Forum Game, Darth!
I put in a few "I hope FG becomes more active" posts in, so you should definitely do it.
Of course, make sure the name of it isn't "4 word story" :p

Okay, so there's definately some interest. (And no, it won't be a 4 word story... It'll be a 5 word one :D ) Now for my next question...

What kind of setting would you prefer? Would you like it to be Sci-Fi (spaceships, lazers, etc) or Fantasy (swords, sorcery, etc)? Personally I'd prefer a good old orc bash, but let's see what you guys want.

Tough choice. I like swords and magic just as much as I like plasma rifles and androids, so I really wouldn't know. I'd probably be able to post relatively well in wither, and enjoy it.

Sounds like a good idea, as long as nobody says anything dumb and makes everybody lose track of what was going on.

Well, it wouldn't be hard to keep track - just go back a page and read on. I did that all the time, and it was a great way to waste a good half-hour or so. Why nobody turned one of these quests into a novel I don't know.

Regarding the question about settings: I know it's an interesting choice, and the reason I ask is because every time I come across a forum quest, it always seems to be in a Fantasy setting (god, that sounds so pornagraphic), so I wondered if anyone was interested in trying out one in a more Sci-Fi orientated world.

One last question - should I start it here where people will forget about it within a week or over in Forum Games where no-one will take it seriously?

Forum Games. That's what the forum used to be all about anyway, Role Playing and such.

Okay then. If you're still interested, and I hope you all are, then the Forum Quest of Eternia awaits you! (http://www.armageddongames.net/showthread.php?p=1058397#post1058397) Let's try to keep it going until at LEAST the end of the month. It's a good old Fantasy setting, because I guess that's what we're most comfortable with. Besides, I can always start another one.

And yes, I've stopped colouring my text blue. Thanks for noticing.
