my freind has a emulater for his comp i dont care for them and dont know were to get them, but he plays zelda 1 for snes and theres thees things called filters that make the textures look better but theres one that makes line go across the screen its called line scane i gues well what is it for?

Typo or not, he could be partially correct in saying that (BS Zelda).
"Line scan" sounds like it's supposed to be scanlines. Scanline features in emulators are a poor attempt to make the game look more like it's being played on a real TV rather than a computer monitor. It doesn't really ever achieve that feel.

Yes you're talking about the scanlines filter/blitter. However, it doesn't look like a TV, but more like an arcade monitor. TV's scanlines as I recall, are slightly different. However it has a nice effect (for some people) on the image quality. It makes it look nicer to me, less pixelated and dull. There are many types of filters/blitters for some emulators.
Anyways, it's all about what you prefer.
