Ok so my friend wants me to get FFXI, and I want to know if I need to get a Hardrive.I bought the PS2 right when it came out and I thought the orginal's came with hardrives but I might be wrong. Also I already have a network adapter if that means anything. What do I need to buy to be able to play the game and how much will it cost?

To play the PS2 version of FFXI, you'll have to buy the PS2 Harddrive that comes with FFXI for about $100.

PS2 doesn't come with a harddrive, and FFXI is about the only game that used it, and its no longer supported by Sony with their new model PStwo. FFXI will be out eventually for Xbox 360.

If you have a PC with decent 3-D performance, you can get the PC version and the two expansions for $30.

Is there a difference between the PC verison and the PS2 version? Can you play someone thats on PS2 while your on PC?

There is really no difference between the two versions except it might be easier with the PC version, at least in terms of chatting and the PC version probably has better graphics. And yes, you can play with someone that's on PS2 while you're using the PC version. Both versions access the same servers.
