Anyone hear the rumor about the ps3 that states that there was a problem with the cooling system in the ps3 that causes the system to fry after about 30 hours of use? Can not remember what site I heard this on, I think it was Joystiq, it was an actual article and not a post in a forum or anything. Can anyone confirm this or believe this to be plausible.

If I find the article I will post a link.

Prototype units often have problems, then fanboys spread rumors. Same with malfunctioning release units. OMG I HERD TEH PS3 SETZ UR HOWS ON FIR!!!111

I doubt they would fire the whole PS3 development team. Sounds like bs to me.

Even if they did delay the PS3, I don't know how much it would hurt Sony since there are still so many games coming out for the PS2.

It seems that it would just be a bug like Motzilla said most of the first units coming out are not perfect they still ahve alot of different bugs, but it would be nice to be warned before taking it home and it blowing up :laughing:

Any other bugs you know about?

Remember how buggy the first demo units of the xbox were? This is the same thing. I'm sure most of the problems will be fixed by release.

If the article isn't a fraud, it's exaggerating. In addition to Vegeta’s point concerning the programmers, I think that coolant is an important issue that the development would handle. Even if such a severe error was made, I think it would be nigh impossible for them to miss it if they did any testing on the units.

As for that returning to square one business, that’s just foolishness.

i have no absolutely no problem in believing that he doesnt believe that you believe that....uh, anyways. i have played ps2 30 consecutive hours on occasion without fail, so i believe if theres any problem on ps3 it would be dealt with prior to its release. nothing to lose sleep over.

maybe they should put a warning on the back: "Warning: Using this sytem for 30 hours straight can be fatal for you system. Of course, if you're playing for 30 hours straight, having this system burst into flame may be a good lesson for you."

I don't know about that. I've picked up several cheap and fun games for the PS2. However, that statement tends to hold true for controllers, at least in my experience.

One, games are software not hardware. Two, as far as I know sony has not produced any games. Games are often produced by third party developers. EA, Ubisoft Square, just to name a few.

BTW, uncertain of whether or not sony has produced any
games.

i typically leave my consoles on all the time. for months at a time. I hate to save and reload so I just pause and walk away. Pause a game of GTA a week before halloween and get back to it just after New Years.

So if any console were to melt after 30 hours, i'd burn through them like matches.
