Now that I'm all refreshed on my favorite episodes, anyone else have one?

I rememebr that cartoon, used to watch it after school. It was cool when I was a kid, but thinking back on it, it was kind of lame. Kind of liek teh super mario cartoons, now those were terrible, the live action scenes and what not.

haha yeah those Super Mario cartoons were ridiculous and The Legend of Zelda series isn't anything to be taken extremely seriously but it's fun!

Memories come flooding back  Ah the memories!

A few things stick out in my mind:

link as a ghost, scaring the shit out of a stalfos by saying "hey, i'm link and I'm right behind you". I also remember a lot of link and zelda going into ganon's dungeon for all sorts of pointless reasons.

I remember cracking up at Mario's antics

And I remember in that other show, a gameboy hopping around the battlefield, beating people up with a virtual club that it could send out of it's screen. And I remember when for some reason it went evil when It was plugged into the wall (instead of using batteries)

And I remember form the mario show with actual actors, when luigi was unclogging a toilet, and he said "now how bout' that? a fish! it's amazing what some poeple will throw in the toilet, and then they can't figure out why it don't work!

Ah...good times...good times

I ordered my box set already :)

UPDATE: Just got mine in the mail today (Amazon is fast!). The set is pretty nice. The episodes are spread across 3 DVDs. The first two DVDs have 4 episodes each, and the 3rd DVD has the last 5 episodes. Amonst the 3 discs, there are also 5 live action segments from the Super Mario Bros Super Show. Other bonuses include a card matching game, a trivia game, and a viewable sketch gallery. The games are okay, but you don't win anything for beating them :(

My only real complaint is that the first disc includes some previews (for Heithcliff, Home Movies, and Punky Brewster DVDs) and you have to skip over them before you get to the main menu, which is kind of annoying. Even so, this is a pretty good buy, and for about $20, any fan of the show would be stupid not to pick it up.

When did that show air, and on what channel? I never remember seeing it... Was it any good?

It was terrible, just like every other Nintendo cartoon ever made. But we were young when it was on and didn't know better. IIRC, there was Link, Princess Zelda (whom he was constantly hitting on - without much success), Link's fairy called Sprite and Ganon, in his pig-like form from A Link To The Past. Zelda has one half of the Triforce and Ganon had the other and he was constantly trying to get the second so he could rule the world, blah blah blah. Standard fare, really.

They aired in late 1989, although I don't know what channel they were on. I have some very vague memories of them from many a year ago, but in 1989 I was 5, so it's not surprising I don't remember much about them. If you visit any half-decent Zelda website, you can find all the episodes up for download. Here's one of them (http://www.google.com), but don't expect to be amazed by the quality. Best if you just watch one to see what you''d be getting into by buying the DVDs.

EDIT - Oh! And Link had a really annoying catchphrase. (http://google.com)

EDIT2 - In the UK, it was shown on GMTV in 1990, apparently. (That's the morning program we have on ITV). Still not sure about what channel it was on in the States though. Anyway, here's the blurb that was said during the introduction:

Zelda: "This is the Triforce of Wisdom Link. The evil wizard Ganon has the Triforce of Power. Whoever gets both Triforces will rule this land forever. You must help me, Link!"
Link: "Hey, for you Zelda, anything!"

EDIT3 - Some pictures for you to enjoy.

How dare you mix The Mario Cartoon with the Zelda Cartoon. The Mario Cartoon was awesome, and unlike that POS Zelda Cartoon actually stayed rather true to the games.

Geez. I take my signature down for only so long, and already someone clearly needed to look at it. ;) You people do this to me on purpose, I swear.

You can watch some of the Zelda and Mario cartoons on Yahooligans (http://yahooligans.yahoo.com/content/tv/).

I know the Zelda cartoons are corny, and the animation isn't very good (the Mario cartoons aren't much better), but I like it just as much now as a did when I was 8 years old.
