Really! Why aren't you all arguing about how XYZ was robbed or how the new guy will ruin the whole thing? Or could it be that you just don't know? Well, you do now:

Yep! It's Daniel Craig!
After one of the most publicized casting processes in film history, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Eon Productions formally announced (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4337224.stm) today in London that, as early reports suggested, English actor Daniel Craig has been cast as the sixth big-screen James Bond, succeeding Pierce Brosnan in the role. (Ironically, today also marks the 78th birthday of ex-007 Roger Moore (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000549/).)
Craig will portray agent 007 in the next installment of the forty-odd year-old franchise, Casino Royale, to be directed by Martin Campbell (Goldeneye). The film will be produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
According to Reuters, "in typically flamboyant 007 style, (Craig) swept up the River Thames on a power launch to a news conference, escorted by Royal Marines boats."
"I'm kind of speechless at the moment," Craig informed reporters at the London press conference, held aboard the HMS President by the river Thames. "It hasn't really sunk in yet. It's a huge responsibility but also a huge challenge and adventure." Craig was dressed in a dapper blue suit and red tie befitting the well-tailored James Bond.
"I've just got to step up to the plate and deal with it," Craig said, adding, "Together with Martin, I just want to make the best film I can. It's not a question of redefining, but taking it somewhere it's never gone before."
Some video from the conference can be seen here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4342298.stm).
The 37-year-old Craig is almost a decade older than what the filmmakers had stated they were looking for in a new James Bond. Casino Royale will chronicle a younger, less seasoned Bond's early mission as a 00 agent in her majesty's secret service. The filmmakers confirmed that the current script will only bring back Bond's supervisor, M, but not gadget master Q or Miss Moneypenny.
Sony has issued the first photo of Craig in character, although the actor said his hair might not be that dark in the film. (See above pic - Darth)
"Daniel is a superb actor who has all the qualities needed to bring a contemporary edge to the role," Broccoli and Campbell said in a statement. Sony chief Amy Pascal added, "We believe that in Daniel Craig we have found the ideal 21st century Bond and we couldn't be more privileged to be working with Barbara and Michael, who are tireless champions and guardians of the James Bond legacy."
The new official film site has been launched and can be found here (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/casinoroyale/site/).
Also unveiled at the press conference was the new logo for Casino Royale, which can be seen at JamesBond.com (http://www.mgm.com/jamesbond/home/).
Veteran Bond movie scribes Neal Purvis & Robert Wade penned the initial drafts of the screenplay adaptation of Ian Fleming's first Bond novel. Oscar nominee Paul Haggis recently polished their script.
Casino Royale is due for release worldwide on November 17, 2006. It will be filmed in the Czech Republic, the Bahamas, Italy and the UK.
Furthermore, Wilson also revealed (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4337224.stm) that work is already underway on the follow-up to Casino Royale!
Daniel Craig's screen credits include Layer Cake, Road to Perdition, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Sylvia and Enduring Love.
