Layers are very hard to figure out? Can it be used to go behind houses or you have to set it with Overhead?

Layers basically allow you to set up graphics overtop of Link and his surroundings. Yes, you can use them so you can walk behind a house, a tree, etc, much like overheads, but once you learn how to use layers you'll see that they're really much more useful and flexible than overhead combos are.
Layers are one of the harder things to learn in ZQuest, but they're worth it. :)

Yeah they are, its not that hard to do really.

yeah in my current quest i had to play with the layers because link would go under them, can't pass him. etc.
