My Nephew

One thing thats been going on during my absence, is that I had a new nephew. his name is Matthew, and he was born with a cleft (sp?) pallet and lip. He went in yesterday for his first surgery, and its remarkable. Im going to share some pictures with you guys, and I will admit, some of teh before pictures can be hard toi handle if you've never seen anything liek this before. But he's awesome, and I love the little guy.

He still has some more work, and they wont be able to repair his pallet untill hes 8 or 9, they want his permanent teeth to start growing in.

One of my good friends in high school was born with a cleft pallet. He had the exact same type of scar. Last I heard he's in med school or something.

He's really cute though, and I'm glad he's doing well. I have two nephews myself and I love 'em both to death. They are amazing.

it means he was born without an upper lip. i have a cousin who was born like that and the scars of the operation do not show any more. she is a beauty and so it this child.

7 or 8 I think he has. We're in competition to see who's parents end up with more grandkids. I'm not sure what will make the contest end. Last I knew we were close or even... My parents have 7 grandkids so far.

That is totally awesome, goat. He is such an adorable little boy, even before the operation, but the surgery looks amazing! Props to those doctors, and props to you for being such a proud uncle that you'll show him off to the world, even though some people can be cruel and thoughtless. That little boy is so lucky, to have you in his family, and to have been blessed with such good doctors. My prayers are with him, that his future surgeries will go just as smoothly!!
