What am I doing wrong?

Ok here is the situation, I would like to have a flag where you burn a bush and stairs come. Everytime I try, all the bushes everywhere will turn to stairs. How do I fix this.

sounds like maybe you're putting the stairs in the undercombo......
you put the stairs in the secret combo slot for burn, and then just place the one burn flag on the one bush you choose.

jsut to be safe, i always fill the misc tiles with stairs in that situation...but that's me...

Your problem might be that, whenever you trigger one secret on a screen, all other secrets trigger at the same time. So, you can't set up each individual bush to burn and become a stairway; as soon as the player burns one bush, all the secrets get triggered, so all the bushes will change. That's why the original Zelda game never had more than one burnable bush per screen.

Draw the bush on the screen, then put flag #4 over the bush, then select the secret combo for blue or red candle to be stairs, set the under combo to plain ground, and you got it.
